Obama administration officials said Monday the federal government would not become a willing partner in the state of Arizona's efforts to arrest undocumented people -- unless those immigrants meet federal government criteria. And they said the administration is rescinding agreements that allow some Arizona law enforcement officers to enforce federal immigration laws.

Where do the Federal buildings in AZ get their electricity, water, etc.? What if the streets to and from are closed for “safety concerns”? I wonder if those Federal buildings have cafeterias, and if so, are they up to AZ health standards?

I was a police officer after returning from Korea in 1952. I clearly recall being told in training, that a local police officer had more authority than state or federal LE. We could make arrests for violations of local, state or federal law - and we did. The state LE could act upon some but not all law, ditto the federal LE. We had more authority than an FBI agent. Immigration was not a problem in those days, but had it been, we would have enforced the laws - our oath of office so stated.

What has changed??

The problem is, the Federal government is not enforcing its own law.

Obama is disregarding his constitutional duty.

Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution says that the United States (meaning the federal government) will protect each of the states against invasion.

In 1787 they didn't envision a scenario where the President would not want to do that because he was hoping for the invaders to vote for him.
