The Road to Hell
The American Thinker ^ | 6-28-12 | Robin of Berkeley

Posted on 06/28/2012 5:36:34 AM PDT by afraidfortherepublic

Back in my über liberal days, I had a mad love affair with the San Francisco Chronicle, our local daily. One of the greatest pleasures of my day was imbibing every news story and feature of our left-leaning paper.

But when that paper started devoting way too much air time to slobbering over candidate Obama, my infatuation grew sour. It wasn't long before I permanently stopped my subscription and started looking for news in all the right places.

I just happened on my old love interest the other day when I was relaxing in a cafe and spotted the Chron sitting there. I decided to take a look and check out the latest nuttiness.

Well, speaking of "slobbering," the newspaper was practically drooling over a bizarre, new program being launched in San Francisco. The city will be giving a homeless person a four-legged friend to foster: a homeless pup from the pound. But the transient won't get the pick of the litter, but a "problematic" dog. And since California is overflowing with money (LOL), the city will generously throw in a stipend to care for the pet.

What could possibly go wrong here?

First off, raise your hands if you think that many of these street people will actually use the added income for the benefit of their new best friends? When the call of booze and cocaine beckons, what will happen to Rover's Purina?

Secondly, where will this happy, new couple actually live? Given that many shelters and residential hotels won't allow pets, where will they sleep? And if it's on the streets, who will clean up all of the extra poo and piddle?

Finally, does anyone else see a problem with a possibly psychotic, drug-addled transient in charge of a "problematic" pet?

Read the whole thing. Besides being astute observtion and commentary on San Francisco, Berkeley, and the Occupy movement, Robin reveals that she will no longer be writing for The American Thinker. I wonder shat that's all about?

shat = what

Losing Robin’s regular reports from behind enemy lines in Berkeley will make my life a little duller. If she’s not writing for The American Thinker, I hope she’ll be writing for somebody else. I shall miss her insightful commentary and wit.

Really.

I'm reading "The Amateur" by Edward Klein; great book.

Best quote so far -- "Obama went into the phone booth Superman and came out Clark Kent".

In the article it explains where future writings are to be found. Apparently they will continue, just not on American Thinker.

This homeless dog rescue idea is a perfect example of how liberals are primarily motivated to the agenda of making themeselves look good. This motivation is at the heart of what Robin describes as “trying to play God.”

Trying to make yourself look good will inevitably result in you looking worse.

As a former Leftie, I can relate to this story. My conversion started with Desert Storm. I finally got tired of hating the USA and started cheering for the good guys. We live in the greatest, most benevolent country on the planet. P.J. O'Rourke became my favorite journalist.

Prepper like me?

I noticed I could not get to his website. The server can’t be found. Even googling it I discovered the address is correct.

I think more and more are dropping out from the “mainstream” and going to their own personal version of “Galt’s Gulch”.

I accessed her website this AM, but the most recent articles were from March. Perhaps it’s just busy.

robinofberkeley.com is her blog.
Don’t know how many of you have followed her amazing transformation in so many ways but knowing she is a child of the 60’s, as many of us are, it has been truly inspiring. Especially considering where she lives. Wish her well and follow her at her blog. After all, it’s mostly our fault (boomers) that we are where we are today. Glad to help set things back on the right track whenever I can. Glad I never swallowed the kool aid. LOL! Kind of like clinton not inhaling.

Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.
