The main reason why Jews are so concerned about Christian conversion is a fundamental constant of Jewish history: Jews have unique survival as a people for something like 4,000 years, having beaten back many forces attempting put an end to their history. So with that history of survival against the odds in mind, Jews place top priority on passing down their tradition and peoplehood to future generations. Conversions to Christianity are a hazard to Jewish survival as a people, because, in the Jewish view, one is no longer Jewish once he is converted.
Whether or not Jews who convert to Christianity "become conservatives and start voting Republican" is another issue. Voting 'Rat is not a religious commandment for Jews nor is voting Republican a religious requirement for Christians, and I haven't seen any statistics on how such conversions influence one's political predilections.
That Rabbi may have been a leftist, but you can't determine that from the one statement he made.
Given 2000 years of official Jewish skepticism, he’s a little daft to equate the tiny fraction who believe the Christian gospel to country-wide round ups by evil dictators like Mr. Hitler. I’d expect that far, far more go just plain secular.

So far your only example is civil rights - which is NOT a leftist aim, and is old old old, and didn't require “muscle” by blacks - just the Constitutional power of mostly Republicans elected by conservatives who believed in equality under the law.

The Blacks were not the only ones who switched parties around the 1960’s. A lot of loony racist Democrats switched as well.
The question is why Jews hate Evangelicals, not "Christians". Jews vote roughly 80% democrat, Evangelicals vote close to that for Republicans.
Even Christians becoming Evangelical Christians moves them right, for instance Hispanic Protestants are close to a 50/50 republican vote (Bush won 56% of the Hispanic Protestant vote in 2004, higher than the overall Catholic vote).

I presume you are saying that with the emergence of current Orthodox Jewish and "Russian Jewish" children into voting adults, we will see some local pockets of Republican power within NYC going forth into the future.
But that presumes that (1) these current children will continue to hold to the more conservative political views of their parents into the future, and not be influenced too much by college leftists and (2) these current children will remain in these pockets and not dilute their potential voting power by scattering around the country or to Israel.
So only time will tell.

Some numbers indicate that they vote republican (not necessarily conservative) at barely above 50% which is good, but an indicator that they are at best moderate republicans.

The Catholic population of the Third Reich was 40%, with Protestants being 54%..
You seem too young and disinterested in history to know about the subject.
I was pro civil rights and participated in the movement, to the degree of being investigated by federal authorities.
In case you haven't noticed, there are quite a few "defectors" who are prominent as American Jewish conservative (at least to some extent) political and cultural intellectuals and pundits.
Just to name a few that come to mind:
Don Feder, Jonah Goldberg, Mark Levin, Mona Charen, Pamela Geller, Bill Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, David Horowitz, (the late) Andrew Breitbart, Ronald Radosh, Jay Sekulow, Adam Bellow, Daniel Pipes, Joan Swirsky, Ben Shapiro, Joel Pollak, Michael Medved, Gertrude Himmelfarb, Michael Savage.
I'm sure I'm missing quite a number more.

You don't even seem to have any knowledge or memory of the many facets of the "Civil Rights movement" although it is still raging at full speed and is currently still used and exploited everyday in American politics and is used to advance the liberal agenda.
Read your news today, it is full of the left pushing "Civil Rights" to advance all facets of liberalism, and it was doing that many decades ago, do you really think that all those Jewish liberals flocked to black "civil rights" and twisted it into an attack on the constitution and the individual freedom because they took an 80 year break from their radical liberalism just to be nice and pure for a while?

I guess so — in the very broad sense that Jews supported civil rights and most Blacks didn’t always appreciate it and evangelicals support Israel and don’t get credit for that from most Jews — but maybe when you get down to details there are differences.
Conservatives like Evangelicals, whether they are Jewish or not.
Liberals despise Evangelicals, whether they are Jewish or not.
