Those campaigning for Obama’s re-election here on FR are now also campaigning for Obamacare.
I hope you’re right. Nothing more would make me happy than to see Obama’s smug face turn into shock when he loses come November.
I’ve begun to see things this way too. And remember, it’s no longer the ObamaCare mandate; it’s The ObamaTAX, because of today’s Supreme Court decision and Roberts’ majority opinion!
With your permission, one of your most succinct statements has become my new tag line.
At what point are conservatives going to stop bending over and taking it from the Republican party?
Today must set some kind of record for vanity posts on FR!..........
The biggest tax increase in the nation’s history, and almost all of it hits the lower to middle class. And all of them are hit twice as hard, as none of it is deductible off of taxes, whereas those with nice big corps never have to pay a penny of tax on it, since it’s deducted by the business.
So step right up, and have CONGRESS fix THEIR MESS, like they should have done in the past two years, rather than waiting for the SCOTUS to do the job for them. Because let’s be honest here - ROMNEY can’t fix this. He can wave, and dither, and say he’s going to fix it, but only Congress can defund it.
More likely is that one day the poop finally hits like it did in Greece and when that day arrives, the Dems will have cleverly positioned themselves to blame it all on the GOP. So, even when the Day of reckoning finally arrives because of the Dems as we've all been predicting, it'll still be blamed on us. I for one am having trouble being optimistic. There is nothing in our past record (going back to 1932) that says we can have the political skills to overcome this set back. With the exception of Ronald Reagan, our candidates just can't sell the fiscal truth in a politically palatable fashion.
I agree with you....
However, the consensus here on Free Republic (as someone called me a couple of hours ago) is you’re a “drooling dolt”, a sheeple, and a Romneybot.
They say the country is screwed, it’s over, they’ve thrown in the towel, gonna cash in their chips, whine, cry, complain about Romney even though he showed plenty of backbone today, complain about the GOP, even though it was the democrats who voted for the monstrousity, even though the Repubicans are committing, one after another, to repeal Obamacare—they are all just liars, don’t you know... Romneycare in Massatwoshits means that Romney cannot possibly run against Obamacare, as the two are molecularly bound like a hydrogen atom’s proton and electron... Nope, Romney cannot run against it, can’t be serious when he says he’ll work to repeal it, because he’s a liar, two-faced, wishy-washy, Massatwoshits gay/RINO/Leftist/Liberal universal healthcare promoting cheat and scoundrel.
So still I ask them... If all you say is true, what do we do know?
And all I hear is NOTHING.
Better to attack and insult your fellow FReepers ‘cause they won’t cry in their beer with you and agree all is lost.
PATHETIC!
I’m fighting back. Today.
I will work to get all and every Republican elected in November. I will push them to vow to repeal Obamacare. I want to hear public, written statements to that effect. And yes, I will work for the Romney campaign if he is the nominee after the GOP convention.
Well said..
To the contrary.
The Right will now get all riled up and frothing at the mouth about something which, in practical reality, darned near nobody really cares about. Health insurance? Most people have it, their plan will comply - no fine. Many of the remainder will be happy to pay the fine instead. More of the remainder can’t afford either - which doesn’t matter because they won’t be liable for any taxes anyway (remember that “47% don’t pay taxes” bit?). In practice, this issue doesn’t affect enough people to matter in the voting booth.
The Obama will be thrilled that the frothing Right will make lots of noise - distracting from the real problem which DOES affect and sway voters: economy.
Quit trying to find silver linings in every cloud. Nobody has managed to extract usable silver from the lining of a cloud. Great in theory, worthless in practice.
There, fixed it for you.
I agree with you, I think Roberts unwittingly(maybe) handed the next election to the GOP. If this had been even partially struck down- we’d really be screwed.
As it is, whatever “recovery” team obama was hoping for is long-gone. This bill is gonna have such far-reaching downward pressure on business, we’ll be lucky to recover in 10 years.
Just a thought: It has taken us 70-80 years to get to this level of socialism/Marxism. It could take that long to get us back to freedom, so be patient. What I am looking for is a candidate mature enough to admit that our condition will not be changed overnight. Perhaps our generation has been called upon to begin the journey back to real freedom. Or perhaps it will all go the way of an armed revolution; I don’t know. But it seems to me that today has galvanized a lot of people into finally getting concerned enough to start actively working in the political scene and changing this mess back to real freedom. How many of you are willing to run for office - at any level?
I am sick of people trying to put lipstick on this pig. We have been had, and it took both parties to do it.
We have a choice - we can surrender or re-group and counter-attack. Counter-attacks frequently lead to victory.
I am ready to reload and advance forward!
I already wrote my reps and senators demanding they take the lead to repeal Obamacare now. I’m also writing letters to the editors to as many papers as possible to expose Obama’s LIES — he either lied when he jammed this down our throats and argued that no way was this a TAX or he LIED to SCOTUS when his lawyer argued that it was a tax! And he LIED that he wouldn’t raise taxes on those making less than $250K. It’s a small start but a start nonetheless.
Was is over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
