Mitt Romney just now called for immediate entire repeal of Obamacare. Even with a GOP House, GOP Senate, and GOP President, that will be hard, because Dems can and will filibuster a bill, and a 60-vote GOP majority is not in the cards any time soon.
But repealing the individual mandate takes only 51 votes (50, if a Republican is the vice president). You see, Senators can’t filibuster a bill passed under “budget reconciliation.” Since Chief Justice John Roberts ruled today that Obama’s individual mandate is a tax, Republicans, it seems to me, could simply lower the tax for not having health insurance down to $0.00, as a matter of budget reconciliation

Sure. It could happen. All we need to do is throw out about 40 of the current gutless Senate Frat boys (and girls) on the GOP side, plus a few more on the Democrat side, and replace them with T.E.A Party nominees, and we got it made.
A little late to be starting on that now, but what the heck, lets go for it.
Now; How do I go about getting the left leaning Republican, who just loves social programs, off the ballot in my state and replace her with a Conservative who can beat the leftist from the other party in the next four months.?

Just repealing the mandate won’t accomplish much. It will just put more pressure on insurance companies and leave the rest of the mess in place. No - the whole thing has to go.
If it gets down to just one vote, I look for a Jumping Jim Jeffords to happen.

There was so much maneuvering and so many schemes threatened by the Dims the days before Obamacare passed that I’m not sure what procedural route it finally took to passage. But some people are of the opinion that a maneuver was used to pass it without 60 votes in the Senate.
I don’t know, but someone will occasionally post that only 51 Senate votes are needed to repeal, and that would be before the mandate was called a tax by SCOTUS. Does anyone know for certain?
Agreed. I'm sick of the gloomy Guses around here and all the other negativity. I'm especially sick of those who continue to spam these threads with the same old anti-Romney spiel.
OK, we get it. Mitt Romney has flaws and he is not the perfect conservative we all hoped for when this campaign started. But the other candidates we ran fell short and that is that.
Rick Perry flamed out with self-inflicted gaffes. Michelle Bachman never caught fire in the first place. Herman Cain imploded. Rick Santorum...nice guy but we didn't need to run a candidate that got blown out by 20 points in his last election in the swing-state of PA. Newt Gingrich? You've got to be kidding me. Maybe he was the most conservative of the bunch but he's a career Beltway hack with enough baggage to sink the Queen Elizabeth. If he got nominated, he'd be a train wreck. He'd be down 15 points by Labor Day and Obama wouldn't even bother debating him. He'd hurt us downticket too. Don't try to deny it, we all know deep inside that is how it would have turned out.
As for those who are holding out hope for a "convention surprise" - you are dreaming. Ronald Reagan is not going to come walking into the hall to start a convention floor fight and Sarah Palin is definitely not going to be popping out of a giant cake on the stage, armed with a magic wand to save the day.
For better or worse, Mitt Romney has got this nomination sewed up and he won it fair and square. He's got the money, the resources and the GOP machine solidly behind him. Unlike the recent dirge-like campaigns of McCain, Dole and the Bushes, Romney appears to be putting together a campaign that is organized, determined and focused. Adults and professionals appear to be in charge and Romney has not been making any mistakes.
So like it or not, he's our only shot to get Obama, enemy of our Constitution, out of the White House.
I understand conservatives not being happy with Romney. But country should come first. If you have to put a clothespin over your nose this November then go ahead and wear one to the polling place. But while you are there pissing and moaning about your presidential choice, make sure you vote Tea Party Republican downticket so that we can control both chambers of Congress and keep President Romney's feet to the fire.
The REAL question is whether the Republican leadership can count that high. And, if they can count that high, are they willing to make it a CAMPAIGN ISSUE.
Something like “51 in 2013 gives us back our healthcare system”.
51 senators plus one additional senator for each RINO senator. How many more is this? I’m guessing 5, so that would mean 56 or 57 senators to repeal the mandate.
Assuming, of course, that if congress passed a repeal, it would not be vetoed by Romney.
I will fight them till hell freezes over and then on the ice.
