Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may have finally admitted that she and other Democrats lied about the individual mandate. Having just been backed into an inescapable corner by no less an eminence than the United States Supreme Court, which explicitly said that the only way for the individual mandate to pass constitutional muster would be to recast it as a tax, Pelosi may have finally realized she has to acknowledge that reality when questioned by the Daily Callers Nicholas Ballasy, while trying as much as possible to dodge the issue by branding any discussion of the mandates nature as Washington talk:
The President has said himself on numerous occasions that the individual mandate is not a tax. Do you think the individual mandate in the health care law is a tax? Ballasy asked.
The court has upheld the legislation, Pelosi stonewalled. Call it what you will. It is a step forward for Americas families, and you know what? Take yes for an answer. This is a very good thing for the American people. What youre talking about here is Washington talk.
Washington talk? If getting Pelosi to admit the truth is Washington talk, then Washington could use more of it. Her hemming and hawing answer, and the extremely vague line take yes for an answer notwithstanding, it is true that the individual mandate is a tax, and if Pelosi is even willing to hint at that reality, then at least shes made a baby step toward integrity.

I can’t wait to see the political ads slamming Obama and the ‘rats over their obvious health care tax lies, that even Billy Bob Apathetic will take note of.
Her kind doesn’t care what is said, so long as they get their way.
“We have to pass it to see what’s in it!” Like the biggest tax increase in the history of the universe. Surprise!!!! - Nazi Polizei

Whether she admits it or not, the Supreme Court has decreed that it is, and just handed the middle class - those too “rich” to qualify for Medicaid and too poor to comfortably afford their own health care insurance - a gigantic tax increase - let’s see Nancy and her buddy Obama talk their way out of this one.......
Yes, but the individual mandate (tax) doesn’t go into effect until 2014. So the sheeple who are most damaged by ObamaCare won’t even realize it until far too late for this November’s election.
Is this crazy
The GOP was warning that it was in reality a TAX and Obama and the DEMs arguing that it wasnt
So Roberts says the GOP was right and Obama was wrong so it is constitutional
My brain hurts
After this, Pelosi is driftwood.
Else, we did not learn.
There is a dead baby chimp at the LA Zoo.
Nature is a bitch.
Vote!
Wait ‘til the talk about what this ruling really means starts around the water coolers and back yard barbecues - and people start to realize they’re not getting free healthcare but instead a big bill for insurance or federal taxes - it won’t take ‘til November before most people catch on.......
This ruling doesn’t change a thing about ObamaCare, except semantically it is now a “tax” instead of a “mandate.” That’s the only change. Any idiot who two years after the bill’s passage is still under the illusion he’s going to get free healthcare, isn’t going to find any enlightenment between now and the election.
She doesn’t care what it is called. She just wants to do a victory dance on the flag.
The GOP must now press Obama on exactly what will happen to a person who doesn’t buy insurance or pay the tax penalty. What will happen to that person’s tax refund? Can he go to jail? What happens if millions of Americans say HELL NO, WE WON’T PAY! How does obamacare work then? If dems can walk out on their oversight duties regarding Eric Holder, I think Republicans nationwide should walk out on obamacare. Let Michelle Obama and the kids open a lemonade stand to pay for obamacare — but no cups larger than 16 ounces at that lemonade stand, of course.
The last thing any American wants is to owe the IRS additional monies. They can freeze your bank account, put liens on your capital assets and garnish your paycheck wages. The IRS will call it a penalty if you fail to pay on time. Once they call it a penalty, they can assess more fees to process the penalty. Now you might manage to get a payment plan, but this bill from the IRS will keep coming every single year. Thanks for caring about the under capitalized people, Pelosi et. al.
