Chris Christie: New Jersey to be ‘Romney country’

“going to be Mitt Romney Country,” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie believes his state will support Mitt Romney’s bid for president as much as he does.

Standing alongside the Republican presidential candidate, Christie told donors at a $50,000-a-plate fundraising dinner on Tuesday night in Woodbridge, N.J., that the state is “going to be Mitt Romney Country,” according to the Boston Herald.

Christie reminded the audience that few politicians endorsed Romney earlier than he did, in October.

“There were many at the time who were still standing on the sidelines, sitting on the fence, waiting for something to hit them, yeah, and I did on behalf of Governor Romney, that’s right,” he said.

Romney called Christie, a potential running mate, “an extraordinary leader.”

“I was really hoping someone would heckle him so I could watch him go to town here, but you know better, don’t you?”

Well, in a close Election, NJ’s 14 Electoral Votes would sure be a boost but, it would have to be done without Christie on the Ticket, IMO. We need Florida’s 29 EVs more than we need NJ’s 14. So, I’m thinking it’s a slam dunk.... The 2012 GOP Ticket will be the M&M Ticket: Mitt and Marco.

“We need Florida’s 29 EVs”

Florida is in the bag. Obambi only got 50.9% of the vote there in 2008. He’ll not carry Florida this year.

IMO the best choice for VP is Bob McDonnell.

Marco is my Senator & there is virtually no chance of him being VP - Nor would he help the ticket.
Mitt will take Florida - O will spend heavily here - and have massive help from the MSM - to keep the GOP spending time & money, but I think that they know which way the wind is blowing here.

Mitt needs a Governor or such not a sitting GOP Senator, and he has to be able to bring in EVs that Mitt can’t easily get on his own.

Someone from Ohio or Wisconsin is my bet.
Christie would be a joke - No Republican is getting those EVs

I live in NJ. FWIW, there are alot of people that usually don't bother to vote because they assume the democrats will win by a margin whereby their vote won't mean anything. Christie caught the democrats off guard. With Obama, it will be the same way. People here are livid. They can't stand Obama. I wouldn't be surprised if NJ was in play.

I would think Susan Martinez from New Mexico should be the pick. A woman and hispanic.

I would like to see Ryan on the ticket.

But these are RINOS. It will be Portman and everyone in the MSM that is pointing Romney in that direction will say, “Who?”

Well, I hope you’re right about Mitt being able to carry FL without Rubio on the Ticket. Not sure why you think Marco would NOT help the Ticket in FL. But, I’m thinking that Marco might also help with the Hispanic vote nationwide. I read this morning from a Conservative publication (The name slips me right now; I’ve read so much in the past two days.) that said the SCOTUS Ruling on ObamaCare could energize Hispanics in Florida to get to the Polls and vote for Obama in November. What say ye?

WE HAVE GOT TO CARRY FL IN NOV. OR WE LOSE THE WHITE HOUSE!!!

There is nobody in Florida worth picking. Rubio doesn’t have the experience and Jeb is an elitist (not to mention his last name is “Bush”). CHristie would be a better pick than either.

That’s fine wolfman, but can we carry FL without Rubio on the Ticket? If we lose FL, we lose the White House.

How so? And btw, wolfman, tell us who would be your choice for VP. I just want us to win. I’m not fanatical for any candidate. (Goodness, I miss Sarah.)

I didn’t realize that. I saw him in an interview and he seemed pretty impressive. You don’t think he can help deliver Virginia?

We DO NOT need two Yankees on the Presidential ticket. A Romney-Christie ticket fits the stereotypes of Northeasterners south of the Potomac ans west of the Alleghenies: the country club, Ivy League educated type (Romney) and someone who looks and sounds like a character from the Sopranos (Christie). If the GOP wants to win Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia, this ticket won't work. It may help the GOP in southeast Florida and the Philadelphia area, but you could get a similar bounce with Rubio, who is not a Yankee.
