How the Media Convinced Justice Roberts To Be 2012's Kathleen Parker
Big Journalism ^ | June 29, 2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 06/29/2012 7:30:48 AM PDT by Bratch

We all saw how the media reacted yesterday. Overnight, Chief Justice John Roberts went from a pariah to, literally in the eyes of the media, one of the great justices in the history of the Court. We also saw how the media suddenly found the dreaded 5-4 Supreme Court decision perfectly acceptable. Do not make the mistake of thinking that what you witnessed yesterday was some sort of bias or double standard. It wasn't. It was a payoff to a tactic the media's been using for years to co-opt narcissistic Republicans desperate for affirmation.

Explaining what happened yesterday is going to require the laying of some pipe, so please bear with me.

A number of conservatives who I respect and admire and who are admittedly smarter than I am (low bar) have found a way to defend Chief Justice John Roberts' decision to side with the liberal wing of the court and uphold ObamaCare. They wonder if Roberts wasn't playing some four-level game of chess that managed to both limit the Commerce Clause and, by outing the mandate for what it really is, a massive tax increase and redistribution of wealth, ensure Barack Obama's defeat in November.

Granted, with the largest tax increase in history now on the November ballot, if the Romney people play it right, Obama losing his job might very well be the result. But what Roberts really did was to abuse his power in a way that sets two precedents all freedom-loving people should find literally terrifying.

To put in terms that Roberts is now obviously familiar with: “Roberts is now dead to conservatives and the Constitution.”

I hope this doesn’t all go to Roberts’ head.

If he reads these articles and watches the liberal talking heads, he will get the idea that it’s cool to be liberal.

It won’t be Roberts’ last liberal vote, I can tell you that. Once you go over to the dark side, you don’t come back.

So in that case we have seen a realignment of the court without any changes in who is there.

Three conservatives: Thomas, Scalia, and Alito

Two mushy middle: Roberts and Kennedy

Four liberals: Kagan, Sotomayor, Breyer, and Ginsburg.

So much for the alignment of 4 conservatives, 4 liberals, and Anthony Kennedy as a swing vote. Now it’s a 3-2-4 alignment.

Why is it that conservative judges can go liberal, but liberal judges never go conservative????

Ya know, I hope Justice Roberts really enjoys the subject of Obamacare; because he and his cohorts have just sentenced themselves to years and years of ruling on one small part of this monstrosity after another.

The first part will show up soon in the form of the Catholic Church Bishops suing over the HHS Mandate. And that will simply be the first of a neverending line of cases challenging this horrid piece of legislation. He could have saved himself and his court a lot of trouble; but, he didn't. Now they, and all the rest of us, will be in some courtroom or another filing suits against this or that provision in this huge, ugly bill.

Because Liberalism is a religion, or mental disorder, or both. It is based on faith, gut instinct, passion, desire to be loved. It is easier.

Liberals have core beliefs and refuse to compromise.

Republicans tend to be "pragmatic" which means they have no core beliefs and will compromise and "evolve".

As Chesterton said, "The only trouble with pragmatism is, it doesn't work."

Roberts decided to swim with the sewage, and no matter where he goes from this day forward, he will carry the stench. Bob

Can anyone tell me where Roberts is going to be buried?

I want to start pissing on his grave right away. No reason to wait.

Maybe I should start a business. Send me your urine and I will pour it on Roberts’ grave.
