The Real Winners (Krugman mega-hurl)
NYT ^ | June 28, 2012 | Paul Krugman

Posted on 06/30/2012 12:21:49 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

So the Supreme Court — defying many expectations — upheld the Affordable Care Act, a k a Obamacare. There will, no doubt, be many headlines declaring this a big victory for President Obama, which it is. But the real winners are ordinary Americans — people like you.

How many people are we talking about? You might say 30 million, the number of additional people the Congressional Budget Office says will have health insurance thanks to Obamacare. But that vastly understates the true number of winners because millions of other Americans — including many who oppose the act — would have been at risk of being one of those 30 million.

So add in every American who currently works for a company that offers good health insurance but is at risk of losing that job (and who isn’t in this world of outsourcing and private equity buyouts?); every American who would have found health insurance unaffordable but will now receive crucial financial help; every American with a pre-existing condition who would have been flatly denied coverage in many states.

In short, unless you belong to that tiny class of wealthy Americans who are insulated and isolated from the realities of most people’s lives, the winners from that Supreme Court decision are your friends, your relatives, the people you work with — and, very likely, you. For almost all of us stand to benefit from making America a kinder and more decent society.

30 million accounts for the 18-26 year old crowd that are on Mom and Pops medical now.

BTW, Obama claims he is spreading out the cost by making young folks who don’t need medical pay into the system, but he is in reality forcing Mom and Pop to pay for unnecessary medical expenditures for their Adult children.

I see he is sticking to things he has been proved to know nothing about, like economics!

Krugmann calls himself an economist, but he rambles on about human decency.

His economic theorems are based on pixie dust and rainbows.

“His economic theorems are based on pixie dust and rainbows.”

Exactly. He has no conception of the pitfalls of this plan.
He’s living in La-La Land.

Hey Krugman genius - here is what really happens when the government takes things over:

Here is a post from a Canadian:
“Let me tell you this as a Canadian. Our emergency rooms are a bad horror movie. The difference is, you don;t have to stay in the movie theater. I am 58 years old. I have NO family doctor nor can I get one. Any I contact will NOT take on any more patients. If I have to see a doctor, I go to a walk in clinic and WAIT!!!!!! This system was designed by socialists, to benefit socialists. IE: health boards, unionized nurses, unionized providers. We have nurses making over $250,000 per year after abusing the contracts approved by our socialist govts. After taxes 24 beer are $60. Our gas taxes are way more than yours etc. This revenue goes into “general funds”to support our health system which is in the red all the time anyway. Health care in Canada IS rationed. It is a neverending SINKHOLE! I love America and I hate what is happening to her. I challenge ANY Canadian to dispute my post.”

We Americans have just been royally effed!!!

Krugman and his trust funded fellow “progressives” will never have to wait 6 months for heart surgery like us “common folk” will. And as Canadians and Brits already do.

The only people I can think of who might benefit from this mess are people with pre-existing medical conditions. And is it worth the costs?
