This punishment is definitely too severe. Two or three weeks suspension and 40 hours of community service would have been more than sufficient. How many cases of equally bad or worse behavior could we find where almost no punishment was given?
Just another example of cowardly officials who are incapable of exercising good judgment, and who overreact to any public pressure.
Exactly. They ignored the school bus abuse and now they over react in a cruel and stupid way. 3 months is enough for a child to get the message and for his parents to have to make time to drive him/her to school
The kids are being punished far too harshly and it is being ignored that the Bus Monitor was incapable of doing her job and had no business working on that bus.
Quite right.
They are being punished not for their actions but for the publicity it gathered.
Not that the little punks don’t deserve it.

Afraid you’re not living in the real world. We’ve seen decades of bad decisions being made on the part of school officials and you complain when ONE finally makes sense!
Do you even know what is being tolerated IN the classrooms without any form of discipline or even firing of teachers? Does the teacher in NC get to return to her job after berating the student for criticizing obozo? Yes - she does.
I don’t know anyone who would have been surprised if Karen had been the one who faced disciplinary measures because that’s the way this world works today! Thank goodness, there was some common sense applied to this episode!
You say no punishment has been given for “equally bad or worse behavior” - is that a reason to continue to allow this behavior to be acceptable? How many cases of out of control kids/adults do we have to see before everyone says ENOUGH is ENOUGH??
The video went viral, the school district was embarrassed, the parents either don’t care or are stupid to allow such a placement offer to stand. These kids will now have a classification, and resulting EIP, determined to be severely emotionally impaired. Becuase this is a government entity, good luck ever getting that expunged from their records. Shame on the parents. Big difference between “emotionally disturbed” and being a freaking big mouth brat.

I disagree.
Perhaps this will make some kids & their PARENTS think twice about letting their little darlings behave so badly.

Not severe enough. They’re little sociopaths who don’t even have the potential to be rehabilitated. They know the proper way to treat other people, but chose to be animals. What kind of person does that? A sick, evil one. The kids probably torture defenseless animals, too.
