Why I Walked Out on John Roberts

I've had doubts about Chief Justice John Roberts for a couple of years now -- doubts that were unfortunately confirmed Thursday by his decision upholding ObamaCare.

In October 2010, Canisius College in Buffalo, NY hosted Chief Justice Roberts as part of the Raichle Lecture Series. The Raichle Lectures are sponsored by the college's pre-law center, and the college deserves credit for booking some real heavy hitters -- past guests have included Supreme Court Justices Rehnquist, Scalia, and O'Connor, and other notable figures like Rudy Giuliani.

I was excited about the opportunity to see the head of one of the three coequal branches of government in person -- especially in an academic setting, ripe for debate, ideas, and insights on how things really work at the seat of power. I was really looking forward to hearing the kind of Socratic give-and-take Justice Scalia and Judge Bork are known for when they visit colleges and law schools.

I was sorely disappointed.

George bush was a liar and a fraud. He knew how to appeal to the regular guy , but inside he was just as much a snake as any of the rest of the vipers in dc.

The way he treated immigration and let the wars linger for years was awful.

Won’t do much good. Before being removed from office, he would first have to be impeached (bringing of formal charges) in the house, then be convicted in the senate. That simply won’t happen, especially after his health care decision. While he could be impeached by the republican house, the democratic senate would never convict him. Morover, being a dopey lib shill isn’t really a “high crime and misdomeaner” which is what office holders get impeached for.

Still, you are much kinder to GWB than I would be. I would say Bush does not come close to Nixon in stature. His wars against Muslims were one-hand-tied-behind-our-back affairs all the way (in my view). Remember when he pulled the Marines BACK from Fallujah (the first time)? WTH?

If only he had tried the “Operation Linebacker” approach over Waziristan.

Did you see the photo op today of GWB hugging some poor kid in Africa? (While he left US soldiers charged with not killing the enemy in a politically-correct fashion UNPARDONED to rot in Leavenworth.) Hmm.. what’s wrong with tis picture.

Maybe he will stay over there in Africa and observe how politically correctly they fight among themselves! /s
