McConnell: I'll repeal Obamacare as majority leader
By SEUNG MIN KIM | 6/29/12 3:12 PM EDT

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declared Friday that repealing the health care law would top his priority list if he controls the chamber come 2013.

“If [Mitt] Romney is in the White House and I am the majority leader of the Senate, I assure you repeal of Obamacare is the first item on the agenda,” McConnell on Laura Ingraham’s radio show Friday.

By using a budget process called reconciliation, a theoretical Senate GOP majority could successfully vote to repeal the law with just 51 votes, rather than a filibuster-proof 60. Republicans need to pick up four seats to win control of the Senate, or three if Romney wins the White House.

I have to qualify what I said in my earlier post. Congressman Darrell Issa has been resolute, persistent and a leader in his investigation of F&F and other issues. Kudos to him for what he has done in his position. He has not folded or veered from his task. He has not let them cow him down.

Gotta give credit where credit is due.

I agree.

The quality of the posts on FR lately has been worse than normal. Some of the same posters show up over and over and the tone is always the same: “Woe is us, the left has won, it's hopeless, there is nothing we can do, and on and on and on.”

For the true believing (but depressed) Conservative/Libertarian to get on a public forum and attempt to bring down the rest of us with all of this defeatism is shameful. And it's slightly hard to believe. If you've given up why spend so much time badmouthing our chances to defeat the enemy?

I suspect George Soros and others of his ilk have spent considerable amounts on paid posters with the idea that by spreading this gloom and doom they can suppress the vote on the right.

Yep: http://articles.latimes.com/2012/may/16/news/la-pn-obama-hosting-bipartisan-talks-on-economy-20120515

And to think McConnell said this a few weeks ago:
“The way you get these things done is to have a bipartisan discussion.”

Well, they talked and what happened? Nothing...talk, talk, talk and blow smoke! pffft!

“By using a budget process called reconciliation, a theoretical Senate GOP majority could successfully vote to repeal the law with just 51 votes, rather than a filibuster-proof 60”

That’s a possibility.

But, in all seriousness, I’m wondering if it would even be possible to get 51 -Republican- votes for repeal in the Senate???

Olympia Snowe, etc., etc. …

Uh ... I’m thinking a new “majority” leader other than this guy would be a favor to us all. He couldn’t bring Olympia Snow to STOP OBAMACARE in the committee ... powerless. We need some new blood.

300 Spartans fought and died and would have won had they not let in one who betrayed them.

We are betrayed, but we will not be beaten.

What tyrants may steal will never be our freedom.

Or, our souls.

Buck up. We’re going to win this fight. They gotta sleep sometime.

I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. Shameless surrender monkeys. I'll take delusional optimism over surrender any day. Its how you get things done under pressure.

McConnell is ALL TALK and NO SPINE! He needs to be kicked the hell out of office. I am tired of the pontificating of these pussies!

I agree 100%. He is a big pussy and I hope the republicans pick someone like Jim DeMint or Rand Paul. Demint would be the best and is a true conservative. Boehner is a weak leader as well. The republican party has left me a long time ago. I used to be a republican but am a conservative. If you go back and listen to speeches by JFK in the early 60’s, he was to the right of the republican party today.

I'll believe it when I see it. GOP is all talk and little action since Clinton left office. As far as I'm concerned, this is their last chance. While they would have to replace it wtih something, repeal must be in full, and anyone hired in connection with implementing this bill (17,000 IRS agents, for instance) should be canned immediately.

The 300 Spartans were betrayed the same way we were betrayed. Someone made a deal with the Persian King and showed them the secret way around the pass the Spartans were guarding. The traitor was promised gold and much later trade from the King. One wonders what Roberts got in return for betraying the 4 US conservatives on the court.
