WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Protesters staged a demonstration on Purdue's campus Saturday calling on the university to rescind its appointment of Gov. Mitch Daniels as its next president.
Organizers accused the school's board of trustees of skipping over more qualified candidates to recruit Daniels, who is set to take office when his term ends at the end of the year.
"We are very offended at what seems to us sort of an inbred choice of a candidate who has a long history of hostility toward teachers and public education," said protester Aaron Hoover.

The typical communist thugs who have seized many university campuses.
Maybe Mitch can inject a breath of fresh air and a strong dose of reality into the ivory tower of academe. It is long overdue. Good luck, Buddy.
It’s a fastball right over the middle of the plate. Y can’t Daniels do a Nelson Rockfeller and show those protesters his middle one? I’m sick of our leaders turning the other cheek. There’s no fight in them. At least he’s not running for the big one.
Why do we pay for these commie bastions?
Pray for America
Imagine there not too much of a protest on campus. PU was the only county in the state with a state sponcered university that voted for McCane last election.
Years ago there was reports of demonstrators on campus. Gov called dad and asked him to go look and see what was happening....he found two people.....Guess the rest either didn’t show or left early. Two people constitute demonstration in West Lafayette.
LOL! Ain't that the truth! We used to live there, when hubby taught at Purdue. It's a pretty town!
Still own property on S River Road....but it’s no longer a pretty town....very urban. Has grown up....UGH. I’ll take the hills and hollers of southern IN.
“an inbred choice of a candidate”
Is this the new civility that the Left constantly demands of others?
Purdue is a public university. Of course only a liberal freak or a lesbian should have this job. Mitch Daniels is a squishy moderate Republican but this does not meet these commies litmus test
Wow. Most academics cheer when central administrators hold firm against demands by big donors. I wonder what’s different this time. Or maybe I do know.
Luckily, state law requires that exits be clearly marked, so these folks will know the way out. Hope the doors don’t hit them too hard in the rear.
