A Soldier of Misfortune: Staff Sgt. Joshua "Ike" Eisenhauer

Staff Sgt. Joshua Eisenhauer is a U.S. Army soldier who suffered severe and debilitating wounds while serving in Afghanistan. Joshua now suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a direct result of those injuries and his combat experiences in Afghanistan. The PTSD has caused Joshua to have flashbacks on multiple occasions, including the night of January 13, 2012 when members of the Fayetteville, North Carolina Fire Department came to his apartment in response to a small fire in his apartment complex. When the firemen tried to forcibly enter the apartment, Joshua, experiencing a PTSD flashback instinctively resisted, believing that he was under attack in Afghanistan. Although Joshua was shot four times by the police (twice in the face), he injured no one in that confrontation. The District Attorney in Fayetteville is prosecuting a criminal complaint against Joshua for attempted murder and has been holding him in jail since January 13, 2012. His constant flashbacks from his untreated PTSD are torturing him.

At the time of that incident, Joshua was a member of the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Bragg, where he was being treated for PTSD as part of his transition to civilian life.

Please watch the video about Josh. This man served our country and was wounded, only to have the Army abandon him when he is in need.

The video on the left side of the main website page is about Joshua and his situation.

The video on the right side of the main website page is Sen. Murray, Chair of the Veteran's Affairs Committee questioning Sec. of Defense Panetta on the mistreatment of our disabled veterans. It too is well worth watching.

Please, we need your help for Joshua. All prayers are welcome.

Yikes...this is disgraceful. As far as I can tell the DA of the county that’s prosecuting this soldier is a RAT.If I’m correct then none of this is surprising...the RATS hate our military and those who serve in it.Except the perverts, that is.

I see both sides of this situation. I feel for the police who must deal with these wounded soldiers. The DA must do his job and protect society. It is the Army that is dropping the ball.

Josh is not alone. The military has discharged many soldiers after suppressing their symptoms by getting them addicted to painkillers. The system needs to be fixed. Their solution, dump them on society and let the judicial system care for them!

I not only feel for the police, but the spouses, children, family, neighbors, and the wounded soldiers themselves who are experiencing this hell. The solution is not to just fix Joshua, but to resolve this massive atrocity to many wounded warriors.

Please take a moment and listen to the video of Sen. Murray questioning the Sec. of Defense Panetta on the mistreatment of our wounded soldiers.

Sad part of this is that the Army wants to dishonorably discharge Josh and he will get no VA benefits, no disability, no medical care..... This is what he gets for giving his life to the military.

Yes,you're correct to say that people shouldn't be harming...or threatening to harm...cops or firemen. That's a no brainer. And it may well be that the Army, too,is failing this soldier. The reason I focused on the DA is because he should thoroughly investigate this matter before deciding on a plan. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that this soldier,at the very worst, belongs in a psyciatric hospital rather than facing charges of attempted murder.IMO,99% of the insanity pleas in this country are bogus but in this case that's obviously the case. The DA should know that.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to his situation. I just put the website up today. I’m surprised that there are not more comments from FR members.

How disgraceful is it that the guy who allegedly slaughtered all of those civilians in Afghanistan is getting better treatment under U.S. law than this guy is?

I hate stories like this. These should be part of a mandatory research project for anyone who considers enlisting in the U.S. armed forces and putting his or her well-being in the hands of people who simple don't give a sh!t.
