Taiwans Hsiungfeng (Brave Wind) is now reportedly deployed and fully operational. Defense sources have claimed that 100 or so of the indigenously-developed 300-mile-range cruise missiles are now in Taiwan's arsenal - marking the first time that Taiwan has targeted the PRC. To some extent, the weaponry can serve as a deterrent, one expert has noted. In case of war in the Taiwan Strait, the missiles could be used to attack the airports and other military bases of the Peoples Liberation Army. Taiwan's new missiles, however, are far outnumbered by the 1,600 short- and medium-range missiles now estimated to be aimed at Taiwan from the Chinese Mainland. (Defense News, May 28, 2012)
We should take the 200 B61 bombs out of Europe and deploy them to South Korea and Taiwan.
That will deter agression from North Korea and China.

Well, the 300 aimed back might cause a little hesitation.
We should have nuked the Chicoms and filled the place with Walmarts and McDonalds Restaurants back when we had the chance.
We will fight the chicoms one day... they want to rule the world and we are their main prize. I do not trust them and I have never liked them. We should keep the Russians close and make the chicoms face a united front. No matter what you have been told... Russians do not like the chicoms or the norks... but an enemies enemy... you know the story.

Are you suggesting that filling the landscape with Walmarts and McDonalds after deploying nuclear weapons akin to Rome plowing salt into Carthagenian fields after their war? ;-)

The best defense is a good offense.
Up to now Taiwan’s defenses have been, well, defensive.
These new missiles may just make the dragon blink. We already know the dragon cannot swim all that well.
