SNAFU? Only in the sense that it has been made public.
Tell me again what was so crazy and corrupt about Louis XIV and King George...
Idiots...
Guns for the Mexicans, but no sparklers for Sally.
When you read about what goes on in these federal law enforcement agencies, you have to laugh or you’ll cry. They are full of Little Hitlers and behavior that would be criminal if anyone without a badge carried it out - all under the rubric of undercover and/or ongoing operations.
Did they ever stop to consider that participating in, aiding and abetting criminal groups in order to nail this or that kingpin (which they rarely do) will still tend to increase the activity and attractiveness of said groups to non-criminals who know nothing about the sting operation? For example, if 3-4 ATF agents join a biker gang (as they did in that horribly-written book), the gang becomes larger (obviously) and more attractive to others via its size or menacing presence. To add insult to injury, all the wiretaps and recordings produced a pittance in terms of arrests, prosecutions and convictions.
Moreover, any federal agency is buried under a mountain of bureaucracy anyway, with ‘budget season’ viewed as a chance to perpetrate an annual fraud against taxpayers.
Let me see if I got this right.
The ATF confiscated this man’s Fireworks, and shipped them 800 miles away to have them stored.Stored in an old bunker that used to belong to the Government ,but is now in private hands. In a Bunker that would more then likely be sitting around empty if not for the ATF.
They have paid 8 million dollars to store 1 million dollars worth of Fireworks which they will probably have to dstroy anyway.
Common sense would say pay the guy the Million bucks, plus the $500,000 they cost him in this harrassment, destroy the Fireworks and get out of this mess.
It is pretty apparent that ATF has no idea WTF they are doing. F&F tells us that.
Boy the ATF sure knows how to show us how to handle Fireworks and required permits.
I’m willing to dispose of them. Send ‘em to me - overnight delivery please.
“Some of the fireworks may now be dangerously unstable because they have not been stored properly for five years, the newspaper reports.”
In 400 years those fire works will still be fine. Morons.
Black powder is stable. It is a powder.
Political payoff to “rent” some pal’s building. That’s all this is. Has been practiced for decades.
35 years ago, it was discovered Kentucky was renting horse drawn snow plows and the building from a political “pal”.
Its just your government, representing your interests, at work. Go back to sleep now—so you’ll be refreshed for the next update on Tom Cruise’s divorce.
Federal officials have spent more than $8 million storing about $1 million worth of fireworks seized from a northern Kentucky dealer.
The storage costs continue to rise more than three years after a federal judge ordered the return of nearly half the fireworks.
...and some wonder why we don’t want them managing decisions concerning our health care...
