Former UNC President Bill Friday says Andy Griffith died this morning in Dare County. Friday, who is a close friend of the actor, confirmed that to WITN News.

Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie confirms to WITN News that an ambulance went to Andy Griffith's home at 7 a.m. this morning.

The sheriff says he is checking to get more information on the condition of the person who the ambulance was called for.

The 86-year-old Griffith lives on Roanoke Island, not far from the Lost Colony, a play he performed in right after high school.

Griffith was born in Mount Airy, and is most known for his role as "Andy Taylor" from 1960 to 1968.

” A committed Leftist? Really, I missed that memo. Never heard him stumping for any liberals. He conveyed American values.

Therefore, I consider you a cold-hearted prick.”

It is YOU who had better do some FReepsearch. Laz is 100% correct. Andy was a committed leftist, and wasn’t quiet about it either. I worked in the studios.

Sheriff Andy should have been handling Homeland Security, the Israeli Defense Ministry, and the War on Terror. Instead, we got...well...(un-publishable).

Andy Griffin was a disappointment offstage. Andy seemed like a gentle, levelheaded fellow, but I guess that was all part of the act. I'm sorry that his final act was to team up with Ronnie Howard and promote the single worst President in the history of our nation.

"One of my favorite scenes from the show, it always helps me destress when I watch it. Thanks for posting the link."

Oh, Mjaye, you are welcome! I always calm down, when I watch it, too.....it's almost a magical moment onscreen, isn't it?

Rhodes was based in part on Arthur Godfrey among others. His persona wasn’t all that different from the populist Southern Democrats of the time.

How he could have starred in the show, read the parts, acted them out and then watched the results and still vote/support the Party that hates Mayberry and its citizens is a mystery.

I wonder if all actors struggle with reality?

I watched him on the small screen. Never said I’d have voted for him for anything.

BTW, I didn’t vote for O’bama either. I have more sense than that.

I’m just giving him the benefit of the doubt. You hear the Left all day trying to justify their death-loving insanity that they push upon the world daily.

I’m sure he was the same.

A Face in the Crowd was ahead of its time.

It is on my favorite movie list.

Read your ‘About’ page and you mention Rep. Elton Gallegly.

I was in he and his wife’s home recently in Simi Valley.
They held a fundraiser for an organization in Simi - ‘FOR THE TROOPS,’ which has been sending care boxes to the troops since 2005, using all volunteers. I have been there a few times. Great operation.

Besides a considerable donation for each of us to attend the fundraiser, Elton auctioned 2 flags that were flown over the capitol on the 10th anniversary of 9-11. During the time (short). . . it took to conduct the auction, one could see emotion cross Elton’s face from time to time.
The flags brought $5,000 each, which goes straight to ‘FOR THE TROOPS.’

The fundraiser made enough (Postage Money) that FTT will be able to send 4,000 boxes.
They have now sent their 60,000 box, since 20005, when it started in a co-founder’s garage.
FTT is now in a donated store front in Simi Valley, (and has a donated near-by warehouse) using an assembly line method, with many hands putting together all that must take place to fill a box. (Med. Flat Rate box).

FTT is an operation smaller than some, while bigger than many!
‘FOR THE TROOPS’ has a website - lots of information.

Actors take it as a compliment when you people say they were convincing as people who don’t resemble them at all. How many Jews have played Nazis in films...

Comes as America leaves behind forever the laissez faire ethos of Mayberry and the countless liberties which have been cropped by the current Marxist administration.

It seems appropriate, somehow, that Griffith’s passing comes at this particular point in America’s history.

R.I.P. sheriff.

Yes, like Laurence Olivier. My point is that actors read screen plays and play parts that often point out the ridiculousness of liberalism. They don’t get it.
