I've never eaten at an In-N-Out. There's none around here. In fact we're limited on chain restaurants. All we have is an Applebee's, a Denny's, two McDonald's, two Burger King, and one Arby's. The closest Red Robin is about an hour west of us, so we don't get there very often. We did get a Five Guys, and up until recently, I hadn't even known it was here. My son and I went last week to try it, but neither one of us was impressed. To me, the burger was too greasy, as were the fries. I ended up dipping them in apple cider vinegar to make them palatable. They were too soggy for my liking. If anything, they gave you too many fries. I threw out 3/4's of them.

My son's favorite burgers come from a chain in the Rochester, NY area...Bill Gray's. Their hotdogs, both red and white are excellent too. We only get them when we're back that way. In my opinion, I can make a better tasting burger at home than what I got from Five Guys. Won't be going back there.

In B’ham there’s a burger joint called Hamburger Heaven. There are a couple here and I know they franchaised for a time but I’ve never seen them anywhere else. Great burgers, shakes and fries.

As far as Five Guys I’ve been a couple of times. Liked them but I about stroked out at the cost. There “default” order to a cheeseburger and fries is apparently enough fries to feed the 1st battalion. You have to ask for a half order or some such and that’s like 2 dollars less.

What do ya’ll think about Johnny Rockets?
