As Obama prepared to tour northern Ohio cities by bus on Thursday, NPR's Morning Edition was trying to take apart the Republican challenger to liberal Senator Sherrod Brown. First, correspondent David Welna dismissed 34-year-old GOP state treasurer Josh Mandel as someone "who could easily be mistaken for a teenager."
Then he added that "independent" (read: liberal media elite) fact-checkers think he's throwing false allegations at his liberal opponent, like he was the "deciding vote" for ObamaCare:
WELNA: Mandel says he'll keep reminding voters of Sherrod Brown's vote for the health care law.MANDEL: Sherrod Brown held in his hands the power to stop this government-run health care act, but instead of stopping it, he cast the deciding vote on the federal government's takeover of health care.
WELNA: The independent fact-checking group PolitiFact has labeled that deciding-vote charge false.
Politifact rated it "false" for several slightly comical reasons: that Brown was so liberal that Obama didn't have to talk him into a Yes vote, and that Brown's name comes up early in the roll call since it starts with a B. Obviously, if it passed the Senate with only the required 60 votes to overcome a filibuster, every vote was essential, if not every vote can be "deciding." But if Brown had tilted right, the bill would not have passed.
NPR also titled the "truth" table on campaign spending:
WELNA: It's not the only questionable claim Mandel's been making. He also says he's the underdog when it comes to campaign spending.MANDEL: At the end of the day, you know, Sherrod Brown's going to have a lot more money than we're going to have, but this race ain't about money.
WELNA: Not about money? Records provided by the Brown campaign show outside groups backing Mandel have spent nearly five times more than groups backing Brown. Ken Goldstein of Kantar Media Group tracks TV ad spending in the Ohio Senate race.
KEN GOLDSTEIN: You have certainly more money being spent by the Republicans. And most of that is due to the group spending that is being done on Josh Mandel's part.
Once again, can't Mandel be telling the truth if he's merely comparing the Brown campaign to the Mandel campaign?
Have to be over the target if he’s drawing flak.
Will these NPR hosts be moderating any of the 2012 presidential debates?
Couldn't happen to a less qualified candidate. Has the Kenyan Negro Haploid even thanked Ruth Bader Roberts for his decision to stab The People in the back?
Doesn't really matter- Nature has a way of dealing with entities that don't work out in the grand scheme of things. A better symbol of America's decline and crash with McFlappyEars at the wheel could only come from Hollywood.
Un-proud Mary (his wife) will hit the lecture circuit (lecturing us) about that which has nothing to do with our decline but will note our 'excesses' as consumers, meanwhile her husband 'exceeds' all known fiscal boundries while stuffing his face with burgers and fries.
Usually, this type of hypocrisy would be noticed by all- except special pains have been taken to spare Mexicans and Blacks from noticing. Amnesty and reparations- a million illegals get to stay and millions of blacks share the 'spreading' of the 'wealth' around.
One needn't don a pair of 'race goggles' to see just what this phony President is doing. 2008 elected the first F*ck Whitey President. And how's that working out?
This should be case 1 in defunding the lying taxpayer paid DNC Station.
Sherrod Brown and Josh Mandel enter into a classic struggle for Ohio. Brown’s base is northeast Ohio, and Brown’s is sounthwest. That is what an Ohio election always boils down to, Cleveland turnout versus suburbs & exurbs of Cincinnati.
Whoever wins that struggle wins Ohio.
Obama reelection campaign will bring the Cleveland voters out. If Romney stumbles, then turnout will be suppressed for southwest voters. Last week with Romney was not a good sign. He’s still trying to figure out how to strike out at ObamaCare with RomneyCare draped around his neck. Santorum was right....a huge issue lost last week because Romney and his damned RomneyCare.
Why am I forced to subsidize - through my tax dollars - a radio network that opposes political candidates I support?
Where I live, I can hear NPR on three different separate radio stations, one of which is owned by the state of New York (belongs to a branch of SUNY).
The idea that they’re starved for money is hogwash. If they were short of money, my region wouldn’t be tripled covered.
And I live in sparsely populated Nowheresville (upstate) NY.
NPR also reports that Obama’s bus was “followed by” Romney’s Bus.
IOW giving the propaganda image of obama first and romney second.
(in other news NPR will be bashing other conservative issues this afternoon)
NPR should not have a tax exemption.
take the tax exemption on NPR ads and you end NPR.
Probably.
Romeny still does not “get it”
we do not want a Manager in Chief any more than we wanted Dukakis to be the clerk in chief.
Leaders lead they do not manage.
Leaders have vision not avoiding office.
We are sick of the DC country club. We want electoral blood.
no prisoners.
Forget the NPR stooges.
The presidential debates will matter when they have Rush Limbaugh as moderator.
