. . . a recent internal poll conducted for the Cruz for Senate campaign shows Ted leading Dewhurst 49-40.
Ted is leading Dewhurst among nearly every sub-group. Importantly, Ted is dominating self-identified Tea Party and Very Conservative voters.
Among the 50% of likely runoff voters who are Tea Party aligned, Ted leads 72-22. Among the 60% who are very conservative, Ted leads 58-33.

Here’s hoping this proves true! “Internal polls” can be notoriously over-optimistic.
Very nice!
Go Ted!!!
That’s good news, hope it’s accurate, and I know I’ll be voting for him come the 31st.
This is great news. It has a downside, though. Dewhurst will be doubling down on his execrably dishonest ads. Those ads will make watching tv absolutely insufferable.
Ted Cruz is endorsed by Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint, Rick Santorum, and Rand Paul to name a few.
GOP-e is still pulling for the tax-raising Dewhurst.
Great news but crap. Cruz’s campaign already called me 6 times.
This is great news if accurate. Cruz may be the first beneficiary of the Robert’s betrayal.
Great news for TEA Party supporters and America and bad news for the RINOs who support Dewhurst.
It is indeed great news, but....why on Earth would they release that data? I wouldn’t have. Cruz is the underdog and I think it would only help him if people continued to see him that way.
Cruz isn’t and won’t be perfect, for the Tea Party crowd, but I have no doubt he will be light years better than Dewhearst. Cruz will get my vote....
Hilarious to see the establishment freaking out.
Go Cruz!!!
I don’t believe this poll. Keep fighting as if Ted is 10 behind, because it may be rigged to make us cocky.
Ted is a great candidate with a compelling family story as his father escaped the brutality of Castro’s Communist Cuba back in 1957.
This poll is great news for patriots in Texas and across the USA.
“Heres hoping this proves true! Internal polls can be notoriously over-optimistic”
Or for fund raising. However I hope it is true.
Just sent him some money I couldn’t really afford, but I am p*ssed so did it anyway.
Did anyone know that Cruz's father is Satan? I didn't either, until that poll.
Anyway, I had fun with it after I realized what was going on.
Didn’t someone say the Tea Party is dead? Hehehehe!
And your evidence that this is a push-poll is zero, miss, just like every time you try to offer up any substance in your critique of Cruz. Thus far all you've said is "Harvard," "Goldman Sachs" (even though Dewhurst is the one with the huge advantage in lobbyist dollars) and pointed out that Cruz was wearing what, in your faaaabulous fashion sense, was the wrong clothing.
Paid Dewhurst troll newb, you're so obvious.
“...compelling family story as his father escaped the brutality Castros Communist Cuba back in 1957.”
Yeah, makes a great STORY. Except it wasn’t Castros Communist Cuba back in 1957.
“GOP-e is still pulling for the tax-raising Dewhurst.”
No they are not. They are pulling for Cruz.
And the tax accusation is just Cruz campaign lies.
As a Native Texan, I am paying attention to this one from Florida. I watched the debate on live streaming and Ted came away from that one the decisive winner in content and delivery. I would think the debate was the biggest reason for his surge.
GOP-e for Cruz? Now that is the best one I have heard in a month!
I can see your biases all the way from Florida! As a matter of fact, even Ray Charles could see it if he were still alive.
I watched that debate with a number of folks I had not previously known and immediately polled them afterwards. Not one of them thought Dewhurst won the debate and the VAST majority, some of which had been Dewhurst supporters previously, said that they were now definitely going to vote for Ted Cruz.
gnat is a pest bought and paid for by the DEWhurst campaign. Ignore the fool is my advice!
“GOP-e for Cruz? Now that is the best one I have heard in a month!”
Now there’s a totally unsupported denial of the truth. They don’t get much more GOP-e than the Bush family, yet they are supporting Cruz. You didn’t even know that?
I know he is a pest by his handle. Not sure if you have them in Texas but the gnats we have around here are more commonly referred to as “Flying Teeth” as well as “No-see-ums”. If you are familiar with them, you know what I mean by his handle being a perfect descriptor.
Do you walk to work or carry your lunch?
In a run-off election who knows what will happen. But it is better than a poll showing him down. If you’re in Texas get out and vote.
George P. Bush (nephew of W.) endorsed Cruz and had also endorsed Rubio in the Florida senate race.
But, now I guess you are going to give us some rather long-winded explanation of how great Crist was and the Rubio was the real GOP-e candidate.
Cruz is the man. Dewhurst is nick named do- worst. He is “establishment”. They almost had a riot at the state convention trying to cram him down the conventioneers. I expect Cruz to have a good chance because idiots wont know there is a run off and idiots are for the Rockefeller establishment. like romney.

An internal poll maybe correct but should be taken with a grain of salt. There haven’t been any major polling since back in May. There is one more debate scheduled for July 17 in Dallas hosted by WFAA tv.
July 31 and 100+ temperatures may make for an interesting run off. It may well come down to which one can get their supporters to the polls in an election with not many races on the ballot.
The candidate that spends some effort getting Seniors, 65+ in age to use mail in ballots and not have to endure the heat may be in the best position to win.
You got it 100% on the Bush kids. Jeb Jr. joined George P. in endorsing Rubio. Although I think Rubio is getting too comfortable in DC already, all I have to do is think back to just how bad Crist was a our Governor and would have been as Senator.
I will never forgive the NRSC endorsing Crist the moment he announced three months before the primary. I would say that Floridians know a thing or two about the GOP-e. Obviously much more than gnat.
>>been suckered in by the Harvard career politician Cruz campaign.<<
Now now....no sour grapes.
The poll surveyed 750 likely Republican runoff voters June 24-26 with a 3.6-point margin of error. Cruz had 96 percent name identification among those voters and Dewhurst had 98 percent name identification.
Sixty percent of those surveyed viewed Cruz favorably, with 21 percent saying they had an unfavorable opinion of him. Dewhurst had an almost identical favorability rating, 59 percent, while 30 percent viewed him unfavorably.
UPDATE: Sources close to the Dewhurst campaign say they see the race dramatically differently, and that their polling indicates Dewhurst has a comfortable advantage in the race.

Shaddup.
Go Ted!
Cruz is supported by Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint, Rick Santorum, Mark Levin, etc.
I'll try and dig up Dewhurst’s voting records on your other point.
Ditto on that. I think those ads are lower than low. Disgusting behavior.
I attended rallies (in the early 1970s) to raise funds for the Torriente Plan with former Castro cabinet members and Castro's own sister all of whom hated Castro's guts after having eagerly supported Fidel. Jose de la Torriente was IIRC the former head of Cuban Coca Cola, a sponsor in US Coca Cola of Roberto Goizueta, Sr. who became Coca Cola's Chairman for many years, and the plan was to use Cuban veterans to invade Cuba at Santiago. Torriente was assassinated by a sniper (never identified) who used a rifle to blow his brains out through a screened window as he sat in his own living room watching TV.
OTOH, Dewhurst IS an establishment GOP-E eager to go to Washington to be a faithful servant of the GOP-E leadership. If Dewhurst were to succeed, it would make way for a better Lt. Governor (pretty low bar to jump) in Texas and a minor improvement (lower than a limbo bar to jump) over retiring GOP-E Senator Anne Babyscraper Hutchison (Texas REALLY owes a LOT more to America than Hutchison or Cornyn for that matter).
Dewhurst would be a 67-year-old freshman if elected and Cruz would be a 42-year-old freshman if elected. That's a generation's difference. Why waste a seat on a very old GOP-E like Dewhurst? It isn't as though his track record would suggest favorable comparisons to Reagan. He is just an old ultra-rich guy. That's not enough.
I’m voting for Cruz on my absentee ballot that I will cast and put in the mail the day before I leave the country on vacation.
I laugh at those ads. They are so cartoonish and over the top, I think they hurt Dewhurst.
“Thats good news, hope its accurate, and I know Ill be voting for him come the 31st.”
I’ll donate, and I’ll thank you for casting your vote for Cruz!
Have you noticed that any candidate that is a beacon of freedom, they are catapulted to the fore in short order?
The reckoning is about to occur!
The only collectivism I can tolerate is a collectivist approach toward liberty!
"Were only surveying people that voted in the 2012 primary. That is the pool of people we are looking at. The screener is, Do you plan to vote in the July 31 runoff? Those that say no drop out. Those that say yes, we continue," [Chris] Perkins said. "Im expecting high turnout. The number of people opting out of the survey or the number of people screening themselves out of the survey are minimal" (Source).
If you're expecting high turnout, your poll shouldn't be limited to 2012 primary voters. Because of how they've narrowed the number of people surveyed, I don't think you're going to get a very accurate result.
Other polls coming out now though.
