What do you expect when you join a collective?
On a recent trip we ran into two Danish girls. They were on a round the world gap year trip. As we spoke they made fun of America and emphasized the goodness of Denmark in granting them a free education. They really emphasized free and dumped on America a little more.
Both of them were getting degrees in the soft sciences with one wanting to be a grade school teacher. We asked them how they could afford a year long round the world trip. Did they work in Denmark to save up? No, they said. They worked in Norway. The taxes in Denmark are too high and you cannot make any money there.
They never got the irony of it all.
Those Danish girls sound Greek to me.
I have English friends who love their “free” health care and complain about the high taxes. They never see the irony of it either.
