Roberts isn’t our parent, he’s a Supreme Court justice. His job is not to give us “tough love”, it’s to rule that unconstitutional laws are unconstitutional, which is a job he has failed to do.
Thanks. Bookmarked for later.
“The important thing at this point is that the commerce clause was crucially weakened by a 7-2 vote, and this would not have happened without Roberts.”
No, it wasn’t. The commerce clause ruling is not a binding precedent.
“Sure, it would have been nice to have the Supreme Court do the heavy lifting for us, but isn’t that what liberals do?”
No, the liberals want the Supreme Court to pass laws for them, we want the Supreme Court to strike down unconstitutional laws. There’s a world of difference.
I commend you for your imagination.
How you can defend a guy, as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who says in effect, “it’s not my job” is beyond me.
That’s his ONLY job.
Levin and others have repeatedly pointed out that the Commerce Clause was NOT touched in any way.
Levin rightfully states there is NO silver-lining with this utterly evil ruling.
If nothing else, Roberts just told all those people who traded money and votes for exemptions that there's no such thing so Barry paid them with thin air.
Makes you wonder if all those "high-powered" attorneys at various corporations, unions, and so on, all got their degree the same way Barry did; by being anointed by the nobility rather than actually learning anything.
Even the idiots who support the bill are clearly incapable of rational thought for not reading the bill and knowing they couldn't be exempted from a tax law before they rushed to pass it. How typical of the "if it feels good do it" American voting public who elected the Congress that does exactly the same thing, decides if a law feels good then passes it no matter what the consequences.
It just doesn't matter, really, because the fascist democrat party has been handed majority control of Congress for almost all of the past eighty years. People getting what they vote for is what it's all about, right? And people have almost without fail voted for the sort of SOB who would help pass BarryCare.
Come on, most people either love the democrat fascists or don't care enough to do anything about them running the country. Otherwise they wouldn't have handed control back to them after Newt proved that government could balance a budget and could start to unravel the mess that we've made of it. Even the lousy crop of Vichy Republicans we had weren't as bad as what people replaced them with, but so what?
Republicans "sent a message" in 2008, they sent it by dropping the soap while in the shower, and surprise, surprise, something horrible happened when they bent over to pick up the soap.
All Roberts did was refuse to pretend that no one dropped the soap in the first place.
ANYBODY can go to law school now. ANYBODY.
all you need is a four year degree.
There are more first year law school seats than applicants.
WITH MORE law schools opening up!
nobody is trying to stop it.

I wish you people would quit making excuses for this goddamned traitor! He shat on us, on the people who put him in office and on the constitution he swore to uphold. I hope he rots in hell...and soon too!
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the whole point of the ruling was not to determine what to call it (a tax? a penalty?) but to determine whether the government has constitutional authority to force this upon us at all?

The ruling of the Supreme Court, that is.
July 4th was a very black day for me. The day we should have been giving thanks to God Almighty, celebrating our God-granted hard-won freedom and remembering those who fought to give it to us, instead was a day of grief, mourning the sudden murder of a very dear old friend.

Drafting of the Declaration of Dependence -
The Majority of Five presented their work to the American People on June 28, 2012.
Wow.
It does highlight Roberts' clever application of the "letter of the law" to circumvent its spirit. This is SOP of progressives who have employed legalistic "interpretation" to construct the towering edifice of laws, rules and regulations we currently live under - legal constraints on our freedoms that clearly undermine the Founders' intent.
We've reached the point where progressive jurists discover (or in many cases create through "interpretation") law or precedent to justify absurdities such as the right to abortion, etc.
Roberts is being painted as a hero with the wisdom of Solomon by those examining his ruling through a purely legal lens. Those who recognize the real world ramifications of his ruling, i.e. that we can now be taxed for breathing, are not impressed.
Yet your yes be your yes and you no be your no. Anything else is of the Devil.
Let me throw this out to group... WHAT IF Roberts knew that the Catholics would be coming up to SCOTUS with the lawsuit against OBAMACARE for violating freedom of religion. And WHAT IF he believed/knew the mandate would be overturned on that violation. Maybe he just took this last opportunity to place limits on the reach of government and get his words down knowing it would be overturned anyway(?) I’m not defending him, I’m just wondering.
