I am quite bemused that you still believe they were (or needed to) slip us salt peter.
It is apparently quite a persistent rumor.
But they no more needed to curtail our libido than they needed to make us constipated. Both were symptoms of the same thing - being in an animal state of fear with nothing of your own surrounded by strangers in a hostile situation where people kept yelling at you.
