How the mighty have fallen.
It seems like only yesterday that Jon Corzine was the life of the party, holding court on the Hamptons political circuit, raising money for Barack Obama.
Now, Corzine just months removed from a humiliating financial scandal is persona non grata in the tony playground of the rich, and its clearly taking its toll, insiders said.
Hes certainly not getting the invitations that he would have gotten before, a friend of his told The Post.
Corzine, 65, was looking worn out and gaunt earlier this week as he trudged along Main Street in East Hampton on his way back from the local Starbucks.
**SNIP**
Friends said Corzine looks like a shell of the man who seven months ago sat before a Senate subcommittee and said, I simply do not know where the money is.

That guy should be pushing up daisies after being offed by one of the thousands of people that he stole their money from. The US has become a corrupt banana republic where the rich and powerful can do pretty much anything they want without fear of having to face criminal charges. Meanwhile the rest of us are getting nickled and dimed to death with fines and a mind numbing array of laws and regulations.
Cry me a river.
This shell of a man should be in a cell with a man.
Fun in the Hamptons? Corzine should be on trial and it should be televised.
Where is the “great” Obama, how come he can’t comment on how stupidly Corzine acted?
corzine is still bundling for obama 500k+ club
I wonder how this will shake out in the post-election period. Msybe he will be charged, plea-bargain something, and Obama can pardon him. If he isn’t charged, I wonder what the next administration will do.
That this guy is actually walking around free is a a weeping, pus-seeping sore on the American justice system. This case, and cases like it give those who complain about people spending 10 years in jail stealing $100 when they are 18 years old a lot of credence with me. My mom did tell me, “If you are going to be a criminal, think big”. She was right! Boesky and Milken seem to have done very well in spite of their dreadful stays at the Tennis Club.
I too am not getting the usual Hamptons invites & it hurts, it really hurts.

You just have to thank the morons of New Jersey, who saw fit to elect this financial cretin to be their govenror. New Jersey= Union Craphole!

I can feel your pain and sympathize. I also no longer get to run with the ‘in’ crowd.
I think Corzine is getting shunned because THEY know that BO is going down and when the new admin comes in Corzine is going down hard and THEY don’t want to be seen as cavorting with a felon.
The SOB will probably turn on them anyway.
Martha Stewart has more gonads than any of these ‘kitty’ financiers when it comes to owning up and paying the piper.
Yes , I noticed that , also .
I doubt he is really being shund . I suspect this is fodder to soothe the rabble in flyover country .
sympathy ping
Even Martha Stewart did time for a lot less of an offense than Corzine.
I am SO glad to hear someone give kudos to Martha. I believe I have done so on FR before. She did her time w/ out complaining & seemed to make the best of it. Corzine just seems like slime. I think people are more forgiving when you own up to your misdeeds and deal w/ things.
It gives me pleasure to know that he is being shunned and humiliated.
Oh, I agree with you about Martha. That chick has guts. I always remember Rush becoming enamored of her when she made a plea to buy stock in her company as she was being led down the courthouse stairs in cuffs!!!
Unfortunately, she’s an in-crowd, hip Democrat.
The same thing has occurred to me. Corzine should be in jail, but he will not be. The same with Sandy (documents in the socks) Berger. They are part of the Democratic elite class, and consequently appear to be above the law. If you or I had committed these acts, we would be in jail for a long stretch of time.
An example out of Corzine needs to be made, Yoda said.
