I liked him for his longevity and good nature, but for acting, my favorite role of his was as the sadistic jerky sergeant who had it in for Montgomery Clift.

dammit. A really good actor. He gave an interview on TCM that really showed his human side. Very patriotic and a family man. RIP Mr. Borgnine.
