CNN went into full anti-Romney attack mode this morning, with a false report about an anti-Koch brothers protest at a fundraiser for Mitt Romney and endless discussion of Romneys personal finances, in keeping with the Obama campaigns current message. The worst moment came when CNN aired a charge by Nicholas Shaxson, the pro-Occupy, offshore British writer for Vanity Fair, that Romney had possibly broken tax laws.
Shaxsons article was the basis for a coordinated Obama campaign-mainstream media hit on Romney last week that CNN continues to pursue, long after theVanity Fair article has become old news--and timed, no doubt, to coincide with President Barack Obamas press conference on taxing the rich. Perhaps CNN is worried that Obamas negative campaign is failing. Regardless, after inviting Shaxson to trash Romneys finances with a slew of innuendo, CNN host Carol Costello offered this mild question to her guest:
Costello: As far as we know, though, Mitt Romney has done nothing wrong? He's done absolutely nothing wrong. So why should voters care about these things?

It reminds me of the media comments about Gov. Scott Walker immediately following the landslide recall vote.
“...He could be indicted any day now anyway...”
Not one reporter, anchor or anyone I saw ever followed up with, “Can you tell us what you think he will be indicted for?”
Unsubstantiated media BS should result in raised unemployment numbers.
Hussein must be getting nervous.
To paraphrase Iowahawk, why should anyone care more about how Romney spent his own money than how Obama is spending our money?
Typical of CNN...
such great viewer rating they sport!!!
Oh no, this is calculated. They already know they are in a tight race, so they are going completely negative. We will see a steady barrage of attacks. The attacks will sound inane to anyone with half a brain, but the fact is that 'going negative' works.
“Fortunately, Romney immediately issued this strong rebuttal.”
OK, so I didn’t read the rebuttal. But if CNN is making false claims, then I would sue their butts off if I were serious about them not making false claims about me breaking laws in the future.
if Romney had actually broken tax laws the IRS would have been there nailing his arse to the wall quicker than you could say “second term”. They got NUTHIN!
I’m guessing no one saw the ad!
What will Andrea Mitchell do to top her cut-and-paste of Romney's Wawa speech?
Romney shot Trayvon!
If there is substance to this charge, this could be a blessing in disguise. However, it has to be our side who uncovers it. Strategically, the Obama Team should sit on legitimate charges, if there are any, until after the convention and then toss into Romney's lap, so I doubt we've seen the A-list stuff yet.
