Transportation bill makes Golden Gate Bridge suicide barrier eligible for federal dollars

For many years money hasn't been the issue. The thing stopping construction of suicide barries is citizens who would rather have people jump than have their view ruined by the barriers. Tough to argue with that. They even had one politician make the case that if people weren't allowed to jump off of the bridge they would jump off high buildings instead, landing on and killing innocent passers-by.

Exactly. Suicide barriers on bridges don't prevent anyone intent on killing themselves from drinking a jug of Prestone® anti-freeze or blowing out the pilot light and putting their head in the oven.

All an expensive bridge barrier does is momentarily discourage the suicidal exhibitionists who want to say to the world:

Either way, better than someone using a gun to kill themselves so the liberals can't include suicides by firearm as 'firearm homicides' to further their agenda.
