The FBI is looking for a man they believe faked his own suicide in order to escape the mounting charges against him.

Georgia resident Aubrey Lee Price, 46, left a suicide note and disappeared, shortly after he announced to friends that he lost a large sum of money and had acquired property in Venezuela.

He said he planned to jump off a ferry out of Key West, but investigators remain unconvinced that the shamed money manager isn't somewhere on the lam with $17million in stolen funds.

You know, if people weren’t so stupid, lazy and greedy, a con man would starve to death.

Let’s see...tough decision.

$17 million or suicide, $17 million or suicide, $17 million or...

Oh heck, Alex...I’ll take Decisions for $17 million.

Having just lost all my retirement savings in this, I resent the "stupid, lazy and greedy" characterization. What we were, quite honestly, is ill-informed about investing, so we relied on a financial advisor we met at Bank of America. Both Lee Price, the con artist here, and our financial advisor left Bank of America to strike out on their own at about the same time, and Lee had been the mentor to our advisor, so it was natural for him to recommend Lee's funds to us. I still think our advisor was completely honest with us, but he was quite wrong about his friend, and he wasn't the only one. Lee Price managed to fool plenty of people in the banking community as well as a number of other investors.

In the wake of the Bernie Madoff scandal, I had assumed that somebody (like a federal agency) was doing some audits to ensure that the statements we were receiving were not outright bogus. I assumed wrong, it seems. We took the risk; we lost.

I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. If they catch him, they should give you clients first shot at him in a dark ally.
