Democrats: White House and Senate 'Out of Reach' If Fundraising Doesn't Increase
Weekly Standard ^ | July 10, 2012 | by Daniel Halper

Democrats are continuing to sound the alarm about this upcoming election. And the latest alarm bell is being rung by Senator Patty Murray, chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Using a reverse psychology ploy to gin up support from Democratic donors, Murray writes, in an email to supporters, that "If we don’t close this gap now, the White House and Senate will be out of reach before Labor Day."

Murray makes clear that the impetus for her sounding alarm is the fundraising gap between Republican Mitt Romney and Democrat Barack Obama. "The good news: Democrats set fundraising records in June. The bad news: Mitt Romney did too—and outraised President Obama by more than 30%," writes Murray.

In the month of June, Romney and the Republican National Committee outraised President Obama and the Democratic National Committee by a cool $35 million. Last month, Romney raised $106 million to Obama's $71 million.

Murray's plea is for supporters to act now. "Please give $5 right now. We must raise $100,000 TODAY to close this gap," she writes.

Earlier today, President Obama, also in an email to supporters, suggested that this election will test the democratic model.

"This election will be a test of the model that got us here," Obama wrote. "We'll learn whether it's still true that a grassroots campaign can elect a president -- whether ordinary Americans are in control of our democracy in the face of massive spending."

Gee, and just who's doing all that spending? The Democrats! Even if I were a Marxist, I couldn't donate to Øbama. Why? Because sooner or later I'm gonna need to hang on to the money I have!

Could this be an exaggeration to increase fund raising?

Hey Obama - just go on public financing of your election like you promised to do in 2008.

Whining is such an unattractive trait....

At least appeal to the burden of white guilt we all know that the big-bux entertainment figures are so boastful of. That has been a reliable source in the past.

Or is that drying up too?

Could it be the diminishing power of the unions is being felt in the pockets of the Collectivist politicians?

Just looking at the arithmetic here -

$106 million is 49% MORE than $71 million.

Conversely -

$71 million is 33% LESS than $106 million.

I think everything is propaganda from the DNC. Looking at the numbers, they do bear out what they are saying...but if they didn't want this story out there...they would simply lie.

So you have to ask yourself: WHY are they admitting it?

1) To increase fundraising.

2) To show the "evil" rich right.

3) To set up an excuse...

4) To give an illusion...so that when they do start getting the money in...they can spin it to how people trust the president's leadership.

I actually think he is in trouble $$$ wise. I heard Rush say today that Mitt had fundraisers in the Hamptons over the weekend and quite a few rich guys that gave $$$ to O’blame-o last go round were in attendance. I find that very telling....These guys know that their names will be mentioned, so apparently they don't care if Barry's machine hears about it. Clearly, they are throwing in with Romney.

The ONLY people that will never turn away from a destructive Liberal are the entertainment/media crowd. There are a few conservatives in that mess, but they are few and far between...and even these try to hide it for fear of being black balled.

I get such a kick out of the playwright David Mamet...he had an epiphany a couple of years ago and is now a staunch Conservative...it's fascinating hearing his story. And, a hoot when a dip stick Liberal hears of his change of mind. They can't believe somebody so “smart” would do such a dumb thing!

As Obama steals every dime from every pocket he can reach while wispering sweet nothing promises in their ears, his “base” slides into bankruptcy. Hard to squeeze campain money from an EBT.

Socialism is great, till you run out of other peoples money...

Dems are hurting in the cash department. Pubs will pick up around 10 or more seats in the Senate.

And that “model” would be - organizing the Leeches to get behind a candidate which hates everything America has stood for and laughs at the morals of all of recorded history.

Obama is a liar...... he has untold funds kicked back from green loans to commit to his campaign

What he and they are doing now is beg for money to cover the illicit money. The money must be laundered

Never forget........ the Democrat party is a criminal enterprise

Self interested business people for whom ideology is secondary direct it toward whom they think will win. They’re either holding back for now or betting on Romney.
