BTW, who is paying all the millions in advertising for this Taxation and what do they stand to gain from it? (that question is sarcasm)
If you live in Georgia, please vote NO on this spending/taxation and pass the word. We need to stop this pile of pork guts.
Is this thing statewide? I am in Savannah, and I know it is happening here. Why a July 31st referendum and not in November? seems weird.
Voted “No” today during Advanced Voting.
I too voted NO from North Dekalb.
Screw Deal and his GOP Congress.
These guys are too much.
As it will appear on my ballot on July 31st:
Atlanta Regional District T-SPLOST
Provides for local transportation projects to create jobs
and reduce traffic congestion with citizen oversight.
Shall Gwinnett County’s transportation system and the transportation network in this region and the state
be improved by providing for a 1 percent special district transportation sales and use tax
for the purpose of transportation projects and programs for a period of ten years?
(Vote for One)
I am ABSOLUTELY voting NO. I am totally unhappy with the accounting of what they have spent so far, I sure am not voting for them to have more.
There will be three ‘no’ votes in this household.
The reason the vote is being taken in July instead of November is because there is a greater chance it will pass. The tax-hike supporters are more apt to vote than the ignorant voters, so you hold the vote in July. If you held the vote in November, more voters will turn out to vote and your chances of getting a vote on taxes to pass goes down considerably, as the taxpayer is almost always opposed to tax increase.
10 years this tax will be effect. I guarantee you that this tax will never expire. They will find other reasons to urgently seek an extension.

Deal is hoping that a lower voter turnout in July as opposed to the Presidential elections would draw fewer voters and thus have a better chance of passing. I think he batted the hornets nest though and this has really stirred the anger of those against t-splost.
