"LOL - that’s a positive. I don’t like Romney at all and don’t want to vote for him (but I will), but his speech was pretty good. He needs to get out more and tell people how he is different than Obama (not that I think he is by much). Doesn’t seem like he is really campaigning. What is he doing with all that money he has raised?"

1.) The best he might hope for is that NAACP members don't fear him -- and so maybe will be less inclined to get out and vote for Obama in November. So if he gave a good speech, and nobody threw anything at him, he did well.

2.) I think it's a reasonable strategy if Romney is keeping much/most of his powder dry. It's early July, who is focusing on an election in November? Besides hard-core political junkies, and Republican ads directed at us would be preaching to the choir.

But I think people are paying attention already. I know on Facebook there is a lot of talk about the election. I fear the undecideds are only hearing Obama’s side of things at this point and may tune Romney out by the time he decides to campaign.
