FBI: George Zimmerman Tried to Buy More Guns After Trayvon Shooting
theatlanticwire.com ^ | 12 July, 2012 | Adam Martin

Update (12:50 p.m. EDT): The entire batch of new evidence is available on Scribd now, Weiner points out via Twitter. So is a recording of the police and fire radio traffic from the night of the shooting, via the Orlando Sentinel.

Original: George Zimmerman was easygoing with police when they arrived at the scene of Trayvon Martin's shooting, but according to new evidence from the FBI, he was afraid for his life in the weeks after the shooting became national news and even tried to buy more guns. The new batch of evidence, which special prosecutor Angela Corey released Thursday, includes findings from the FBI's investigation into whether Zimmerman violated 17-year-old Martin's civil rights. The FBI interviewed gun shop owners, according to The Orlando Sentinel's Jeff Weiner, and Daralene Jones, of WFTV. One shop owner told the FBI Zimmerman had called and said "his life was in danger and he needs more guns." So far, though, it's unclear whether he actually bought them.

The evidence also includes an email exchange between Zimmerman and Sanford police chief Bill Lee, in which Zimmerman "praises the officer he had been working with," Weiner tweeted. The Sentinel's coverage notes that Tim Smith, the first officer on the scene of the shooting, told FBI investigators he found Zimmerman with his back wet and covered in grass stains, bleeding from his nose. That suggests Martin was on top during their fight -- a key piece of evidence in Zimmerman's self-defense claim. Smith quoted Zimmerman saying, "I was yelling for help but no one would help me."

I’ll withhold judgment until I see the results in court.

Your Welcome: Check out page 14 of this New Jersey gang warning pamphlet. Note how many warning signs that Trayvon Martin had:

http://www.nj.gov/oag/gang-signs-bro.pdf

BTW in today’s discovery release it turns out that there is a gang operating in Sanford that the police and FBI were/are aware of. They are called the “goons” and are known for wearing “hoodies”. I kid you not.

That’s why the media has been silent on this release today. They have been criticizing Zimmerman for months for referring to Martin as a “goon” just because he wears a “hoodie”. Well duhhh. Read the FBI report, Gutman.

Yes, it does seem Tracy might be OG or at least Treyvon was around the culture.

I guess in your world ‘NANA’ is a gang thing too.

BTW, Georgie did get his 2nd gun: a Fabrique Nationale Herstal Five-seveN . . . the same gun Jihaddi Psychiatrist, Major Nidal Hasan used.

Link? Oh, BTW, a couple friends have the FN 5.7 and they haven't murdered anyone. So what is your point?

If George Zimmerman accepts the plea deal that Mark O’Mara has been pushing the state prosecutor for, you may not like the results.

I mean what if it was some other make of pistol. This is stupid. There are no fanatic pistols, only fanatics waving pistols. And in this case, a druggie gang wannabe fanatic grabbing for a pistol.

If I were George and anything close to what he said had gone down had gone down, I’d say full trial or die, and piss on black racists.

Actually what he needs is for his attorney to get him a fair Stand Your Ground Hearing with a fair judge that will end the criminal prosecution and preclude any civil action that might come after a trial.

But his attorney Mark O'Mara is friends with those after GZ's head, can't bring himself to say publicly that his client is innocent, attacks his own client's credibility, and is also openly opposed to Stand Your Ground laws. So who knows what chance he has.

I'll bet your friends also love their NANAs too, but they're not aspiring gangstas out there tattooing up their bodies and adopting the gangland culture.

So what is your point, BB??

I know I was quite inebriated but I could have sworn it was Lake Okeechobee!
Maybe that’s where I also lost the seven days from my life. It does not pay to drink too much.

Sleep tight and you’ll wake up with a hangover.

Doesn’t his right to bear arms only go away AFTER he is convicted of a felony? /rh?

So um wtf is the whole POINT of this FBI report? All this crap about he tried to buy more guns, and the lead detective THINKS he’s over zealous etc is just smoke and nonsense. Where’s the meat of the report? Wasn’t this report done to show he was a racist?

His lawyer really does suck. It’s almost as if he’s AFRAID to defend Zimmerman in a pitbull way as to offend the blacks and race hustlers.

Yes and there was no evidence of racism on his part per the report.

Even Serino in the report says that Martin was "profiled" for his "attire" not his "race". A new use of the word. This throws the state prosecutor's narrative into disarray as they can no longer with any pretense of credibility claim that Zimmerman "profiled" Martin because of his race.

What's more is that there is a gang in Sanford called the GOONS whose notorious attire are HOODIES as Martin was wearing that night.

And I'm sure the prosecution knows that there is a state law against wearing hoodies as Martin wore it that night -- to disguise himself and conceal his identity.

SYG only applies when it was possible to escape but you didn’t and shot. That is not what GZ says went down.

That’s not true. It’s discussed by smarter people than me
over here:

http://forums.talkleft.com/index.php/topic,1992.0.html

Lawyers hate SYG because it prevents the legal costs of a long trial and it precludes any civil action against anybody afterwards. A lawyer’s worst nightmare.
