Obama Calls Individual Mandate A "Tax" (video)

At his third campaign event of the day, President Obama told supporters in Roanoke, Virginia those with health insurance, under ObamaCare, won't get "hit by a tax." Of course, this implies if you do not abide by the individual mandate then you will be facing a tax.

"By the way, if you've got health insurance, you’re not getting hit by a tax," Obama said at a Friday night campaign rally. "The only thing that's happening to you is that you now have more security because insurance companies can't drop you when you get sick."

I agree with that. Interestingly, the matter of the IPAB (Medicare Independent Payment Advisory Board) is still a matter of ObamaTaxCare that can still be heard by the SCOTUS. Arguments were put aside until it was known the results of the SCOTUS ruling on the mandate.

Repeat repeat and repeat, but also inform. Below is a short background that needs repeating

The PPACA IPAB is a federal body whose existence is perpetual unless Congress repeals its enabling legislation by 2017.

The IPAB is comprised of fifteen members appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Beginning in 2013, the IPAB will be charged with making cuts to Medicare if the Medicare per-capita spending growth rate exceeds a targeted rate of spending growth.

In January of each year, the IPAB will propose cuts to Congress and the President. Debate on the proposals will be limited to no more than thirty hours. If, by August, Congress does not pass legislation achieving the required reductions in Medicare spending, the IPAB recommendations will automatically go into effect. No administrative or judicial review of IPAB decisions will be permitted.

Congress has only one opportunity to repeal the IPAB: it must introduce a Joint Resolution to dissolve the IPAB by February 2017. This resolution must pass both Houses, with a three-fifths supermajority, by August 2017. If these hurdles are cleared, the IPAB would be abolished in 2020.

My former employer has already informed me it is dropping my insurance and that of all its other retirees the first of the year. We will miss not having to pay premiums as our insurance was free as part of a retirement package.
Since I am on a very limited income, this is going to create a hardship for me, especially because I must rely on
“non-formulary” drugs which my current insurance pays for. I doubt if they will be available to me but then, euthanasia is just around the corner I suppose, since my productive years are behind me. No point in investing in the life of some old geezer-gal.

It’s a Jizya for all non muslims in the United States.

It’s a tax that muslims are exempt from

.....old geezer-gal.....

If you are not old enough to be on Medicare, you are not a bonefide Geezer. You still have productive or at least potentially productive years before you.

Thank you for sharing. Undoubtedly your story will be repeated 10's of thousands times in the coming years.

I think of all the years and multiple times I heard the socialist/communist say how we in a capitalist society are slaves to "corporate greed." In fact we are/becoming slaves to our government. Government greed, corruption, incompetence, ineffectiveness and not the least inefficient.

The thrust of their argument being that its not "fair" some have less or without. Their argument is that we all need to share in that suffering. To see and experience in my lifetime is beyond my own comprehension and imagination.

Yours and others need to share their story in a central location and culled to be expressed and shared with the uninformed and ignorant, mostly apathetic masses.

May God bless you and your family

Thank you. I have had medicare for many many years. Although I never tell my age, it is advanced. I remember FDR! That puts me well past my productive years as the government looks at them.
I am still active in my church and in veterans affairs. The latter because I have a beloved family member MIA in Korea.I have nowhere to take flowers, so I help other vets.
Each year my life grows more narrow but I am content and often happy and I do enjoy my life, as worthless as it seems to Obama and his death panels.
