Neither of which make her a bad person, IMHO.
Birthday of the Atomic Age, too. Big kaboom in NM, 7-16-45.
Today’s birthday...
My wife! Born July 16th, 1971 in Princes Town, Trinidad. Grew up living in poverty, in a home with dirt floors, with 11 siblings. At the age of 14, was sent to live in America with her grandmother (along with one brother and one sister in Brooklyn, NY). Graduated from typical New York City high school (read: asylum) in 1990 and began working a variety of jobs (office assistant for insurance agent, cashier at a supermarket, sales help in clothing boutique). After marrying down, became a naturalized US citizen in 1996. Became assistant manager (No Name Stores) then sales manager (The Limited) by 1997. Began studying to become nurse in 2004, graduating 3rd in class from Bergen Community College with Associate’s Degree in Health Science in 2005. After moving to North Carolina, this now mother of 3, began nursing career, Winter, 2006, rising to Charge Nurse for her floor at local hospital (2010)—all the while working third shift (7pm - 7am). In 2011, began working for another local hospital (still 7am - 7pm)and is currently under consideration for position in Endoscopy (she hopes to hear about results of interview shortly.)
Today, this great American is celebrating her 41st birthday.
Happy birthday, Marisa, my wife, my love!
Forgot something...
During first nursing tour, obtained BSN-RN from Winston-Salem State University, 2009...
My wife is an amazing, amazing woman. I haven’t even spoke about all she does in terms of hospitality of the saints at our local fellowship...
My oldest granddaughter is 12 today!!
Happy Birthday to your (no doubt) beautiful wife. She truly embodies the American dream.
Thank you...I thought I would post her “bio” just because she does embody what this country is (supposed to be) all about: hard work, make your own way, recognize and seize opportunities when they present themselves, no expectations of special treatment (she is black). I would put her Christian conservatism up against anyone’s on this web-site (real Proverbs 31 woman!) I have been blessed by God beyond anything that I would have ever imagined for myself, if left to my own thinking.
“Whoso findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and obtaineth favor from the Lord,” comes to mind right about now...
You got a Proverbs 31 wife? GREAT! I got one too, and we’ll be together 20 years on August 1.
