In the Northern CT/Western MA area I can think of at least a dozen commercial properties, either free standing buildings or units in a strip mall that are for sale or lease. All of these had tenants anywhere from 6 months to a few years ago. I’m not even counting places that were built and never found tenants.
Personally, I find the free standing units the most depressing because they just scream “vacant” unlike a small unit or two in a huge strip mall.
If you have to close your business, you didn’t get there on your own. You couldn’t have done it without government.

Of the 1300 people who are losing their jobs, I wonder how many of them voted for Obama? I’d say probably 75% of them. Those of you who voted for Obama: Enjoy standing in the Unemployment and Food Stamp lines.......SUCKERS!!! I hope you go to bed hungry every night, lose your house and your car.
About a year ago, a friend and I visited some long-time friends in the Detroit, MI area. We drove down Michigan Ave. in Dearborn, MI and counted the business that were closed. It was like every 5th business was closed. We went to downtown Detroit at 2:00 p.m. one afternoon. It looked like a ghost town. But, Detroit will go for Obama with 80% of the vote. I’m believing that the rest of the State, however, will put Michigan in the GOP column this Presidential Election.
I live 2 miles outside the Beltway in NoVA. i know we are more prosperous here than elsewhere, and i pray to God every day that people elsewhere know that the country is in the toilet under Obama and that there are enough of them to vote him out. Because God knows people vote their pocketbooks, and those around here do not see that things are bad. i am constantly quizzing family and friends who live elsewhere, do people KNOW he’s a disaster?

medicine has been down for a while. Electie cases. I had some hand surgery a couple of years ago in a practice that usually would have a six week wait. I had my choice of dates and times in the suites five days before the surgery.
Maybe but there are tons of threads here that are “stupid” for example, there are people asking if there is a possibility of getting rid of Romney for another candidate and it is a crazy thread. However, we know that won’t happen but to some it is fun to discuss. There are tons of threads that discuss things that are “far out”. This is one of them. Do you believe that you are the cause of the problems of the United States because of your age? No? Well then perhaps you are secure with yourself and should not mind discussion. If you do believe that then you are insecure and have other problems. This site is about learning and discussion and you might not like every thread...I know I don’t but that is part of being part of Free Republic. It is a wide variety of topics to chose from.

Obama’s government should have built more roads, bridges and internet capability to this business they created.
Obama does run a business in a way — the USA. And the problem is that he’s nearly run it into bankruptcy. if he is re-elected, the USA is going out by 2020...
