When GWB's justice department sued Texas (say, wasn't he governor there?) to prevent the execution of a Mexican rapist-murderer of teenage girls, they said it was because GWB wanted it to go to the SCOTUS so that it would be decided once and for all.

When we do or support things, we almost instantly weigh the effort by a set of standards that make it supportable or not, by whether it falls in line with our ideals.
