“Most actual hunger (”food insecure” is nonsense) is caused by weather or war. Mostly war. Having armies trample your fields tends to reduce your harvests.

The weather is usually not enough rain when you need it. Irrigation systems would solve that problem.”

Check out P.J. O'Rourke’s book “All The Trouble in the World”. There is a great chapter on man made famine.

PJ is right. The sad part is the money sent for "famine relief" tends to end up mostly in the pockets of the < censored > that caused the problem in the first place.

Churches tend to get more of the food to the people who are the victims but still a bunch of it gets diverted.

Had one case where they would watch when the church caravan would drive in and then after they left they would raid the village for food, medical supplies and other goodies. Which was why the people used to stuff themselves immediately. They knew that they would not have it for long.

Really sad.
