He *IS* looking for a new job — as judge. As *JUDGE*? I don’t think I’d vote for him.

“...the same neighborhood where The Taos News reported last week that residents were turned away when asked for an investigation into a series of early morning break-ins over the past year.”

If there is any truth to this the sheriff will be looking for a new job.

The story is inaccurate on it's face;
none of this happened on or near Blueberry Hill Road.
It occurred in Lower Colinas or Upper Colinas.

Lower Colinas is mostly double wides and single wides.

I have lived in the county for two years
and monitor with a police scanner.

Carolyn Johnson was most likely told to buy a gun.

There are a lot of very PROGRESSIVE Anglos here in Taos county.

The demographics are 60% Hispanic 30% Anglo 10% Native.
Most of the Hispanic families go back hundreds of years.

90% of the Anglos are PROGRESSIVES.

What kind of Anglo would be named Chandra ?

From the article references in post 12:

"At that point, the owner discharged a high-powered rifle through the steel door, striking the intruder six times in the lower extremities."

"High-powered rifle" is an elderly term for a non-rimfire, non-pistol cartridge firing rifle. It could be anything from a .223 to a .45-70. Based on the fact that he ate six rounds and lives I suspect it was a .223.

Somebody needs to get a Garand. Mutants go down and stay down when John Garand talks to them.

M2 blacktip is fun stuff, but it has limits. It was designed to penetrate 20mm of face-hardened steel armor. It does this by shedding most of its mass: generally only a small fragment of the projectile enters the armored target. Damage was expected to result primarily from armor fragments spraying from the hit. It also isn't that much better at breaking engine blocks than straight M2 ball.

That said, it will munch steel entry doors, automobile doors and class III boday armor like popcorn. And mutants rarely have any sort of armor. Supposedly class IV soft body armor with a ceramic trauma plate can defeat it, so the goobermint ninjas could still be an issue. If ninjas are a likely threat it might be time to upgrade to .338 Lapua.

What are the chances that Chandra Johnson
is the evil spawn of Carolyn Johnson ?

How many Johnsons, Smiths and Jones are there in the US?

What if the Sheriff's family has lived here for over four hundred years ?

The Romero family goes back to the conquistadors. Romero is my cousin, although we have disagreements on politics, he is still a good sheriff, and supports CCW.

I don't know what you are talking about
but I'm talking about Taos county.

I find 80 in the Taos county phone book.

You seem to be off topic.

Yes, I know !

So does the Under-Sheriff.

You just proved my point. There are 80 listed Johnsons alone not including those unlisted. You’ll be digging a while to find an familial connection.

Pumping all of his rounds through the door not knowing exactly the where the target is seems like a perfectly sane thing to do after seeing a gun pointed into your home.

By the same token, it would make it a miracle for the homeowner to get 6 center-of-mass shots on the perp.

On the other hand, maybe the homeowner used the hole from the first shot as a peephole, improving his odds.

Jack, apparently the only thing wrong with Romero is that he ain't a Republican. Maybe after he becomes a judge (a shoo-in) and he isn't pressured to pretend to be politically correct for all the fruity Anglos infesting this region, he'll see the light and convert to the true faith.

I am personally doing penance at el Santuario de Chimayo for what I said about him.

He did alright given he was shooting him through the dogie door where the thug fool knelt down and stuck his gun inside when the homeowner refused to let him in...after already robbing the home earlier the in day! The thug must have thought the homeowner did not have a gun.

What a mess!

He did alright given he was shooting him through the doggie door

Really Sara, now you're going to get PETA involved in this mess. It is illegal to discharge a weapon within 500 yards of a school or doggie door.

All I am saying about the Johnsons is that the name is so common, like Smith and Jones, that asking if this and that Johnson is related is laughable unless you absolutely know for sure. It’s possible they could be but not as probable as you think.

I’ve visited Taos by bicycle during my 4,600 mile bicycle trip some years ago. Nice place! I’d actually like to go back and visit the place again.
