The Gov’t did NOT create the Internet.

While, a Gov’t official did conceive the idea, It was a private company that made it happen.

Bolt Beranek and Newman, a company who played a major role in creating the Internet, which was founded in 1948 as consulting company. Richard Bolt and Leo Beranek were acousticians from MIT who did private consulting on buildings around the country. In the Mid 1940’s Bolt was asked by the United Nations to design the acoustics for a new building. Because of all the work that was ahead, he could not handle it all himself so he asked Leo Beranek to join him. At that time they hired another man who’s name was Robert Newman to help with the work, which together formed BBN.

No matter how one views the inception, design and implementation of the Internet through its entire history; the following is true:

Born of necessity; government and nonprofit institutions spend money and commandeer resources in order to use it.

Quite the opposite for businesses and entrepreneurs. They make money and create resources in their use of it.

This is also not true: “The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”
