I reject the idea that I owe anything to anyone because they don’t have what I have. I have had to work hard for what I have, and, by the grace of God, my efforts have been rewarded - not at the expense of anyone else, but by my own efforts and initiative.

If it is by the grace of God, it isn’t by your own efforts alone - but it is not the result of the government, either.

SOME writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins. Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness positively by uniting our affections, the latter negatively by restraining our vices.
