Nearly 500,000 eligible voters in 10 states with restrictive voter ID laws live in households without vehicles and reside at least 10 miles from an ID-issuing office open more than two days a week, a new Brennan Center for Justice study found. Because many of these voters may not have driver’s licenses — and nearly all live in rural areas with dwindling public transportation options — it could be significantly harder for them to get an ID and cast a ballot. The report undercuts the claim by many politicians that eligible voters can easily obtain a free ID to vote. In Texas, in 32 counties near the Mexico border (pictured above), there are 80,000 Hispanic eligible voters but only two ID-issuing offices open more than two days a week. The organization is currently headed by Michael Waldman, former Director of Speechwriting for President Bill Clinton from 1995–1999.
Do they need IDs to get welfare, go to the emergency room, get Medicare or Social Security?
Given the UNION MONEY and free labor that the Democrats get (for you Ford buyer, the UAW gets election day off, so they can get out the vote, for Democrats) - I have ZERO DOUBT that if 500,000 people need a ride to get an ID, the Dems will get those 500,000 IDs. It is not at all a big effort and costs next to nothing, compared to their advertising budget.
What the Dems REALLY FEAR here is that once these people show up at DMV, they won’t have a paper-trail to prove who they are...and if that’s the case, they’re essentially non-citizens (i.e., non-players), even if they are here legally.
Anybody who can’t show an ID to vote should not only be turned away, but if they leave and hop into a car, should be arrested on the spot for driving without a license.

Also, for Union elections, Political book signings, Moochelle book signings, buy cigarettes, beer (Walmart near me says they check EVERYONE for beer - checked me when I bought O’DOULS!! and I am 72 and ‘look’ it - I asked the young man if he was working for tips - he apologized and said he didn’t realize it was N/A but he was to check ANYONE buying alcohol - I guess if you look ‘down and out enough’, rubbing alcohol would count. <: <:)
In states that have had Voter ID for multiple election cycles, it has been shown that there is ZERO impact on turnout.
If these folks can’t even get to the dmv for an ID, how were they going to get to the polls?
10 miles out, no vehicle. Likely voter? I think not.
Many of these voters may not have driver’s licenses.
If they can get to town for food and medicine they can obtain an ID.
Around here, you have to show photo ID to get any medical treatment, even just checkups at the doctor. I doubt they require it for emergencies, but any normal, routine care, you must show photo ID.
How about this as a great PR stunt that works to neutralize the opposition to IDs required for voting: Conservatives organize to get these “no ID” voters to the government offices where ID can be issued.
After they set up the program they could offer to partner with the liberal groups for greater outreach.
Shouldn’t be too hard - a phone number where someone who needs an ID can leave a message. IF anyone calls a volunteer can pick them up, drive them in and get them home.
I’d be game to ferry a couple “no ID” old folk around - IF there actually are any.
And you can add to that list:
1) Riding an intercity bus, like Greyhound.
2) Buying a ticket for an AMTRAK train.
3) Travel by airplane.
4) Opening a bank account, or even buying a prepaid Mastercard or Visa card.
5) Cashing a check, even at the check cashing stores.
6) Buying a cell phone that isn’t prepaid.
6) Getting into many bars, particularly those frequented by a younger, less wealthy crowd.
Apparently the liberal groups so against requiring an ID to vote have never complained about the impact of requiring an ID to travel by train or bus.
Of course anyone who has worked the front door at a bar or nightclub knows that photo ID is hard to get. That’s why all the kids lined up have one, even if it is a fake. /s
So.....at some point, over the course of an entire year, they can't walk, run, ride a bus, take a taxi, ride a bike, hitch a ride, or find anyone to drive them to an ID office?
If something as simple as getting an ID over the course of an entire year (or more, figure most people only vote every 4 years) represents too much of a burden, then they probably don't need to vote, either.
Oh, and a SSN card.
I'd guess that my grandmother doesn't have an ID. I don't know that for sure, but it's a good bet. She hasn't driven for years, Grandpa (and now, Dad) handles all of her finances, and so on.
However, if my state requires one to vote, you just TRY and stop her from getting one! She'll be first in line at the DMV (or where-ever).
This "hardship" argument is such bunk. Irritates me to no end.

Simple solutions - take a bus, call a relative for a ride, take a cab, ask your church for help, etc.
Pitiful, just pitiful. Frankly, if someone is too stupid to go 10 miles or more to a DMV doesn’t need to vote.
And why is it always “seniors and minorities”? Just another left wing attack on them if you ask me.
And why don’t these “progressives” in cities just let the “senior” call them and they’ll bring the camera on a laptop and come to them. Oh, that would make too much sense.
Face it lefties, the days of ballot box stuffing are coming to an end.
If they are so stupid or out of it that they cannot manage to get a photo ID.....Then they should not be voting anyway because they are moochers. Eating my tax dollars.
Most states will even help you get a photo ID just to be accommodating so no excuses for not having photo ID
