The power company can leave her alone and simply give her two leads ~ for a grounded single phase hookup.

Nothing that can operate a motor but you could still turn on your lights, heat your water and, of course run your burners if not your microwave.

A grounded single phase hookup is still AC.

But even if it was DC, she could still power an inverter off that DC and supply her own AC.
