Drop-out PhD student who massacred 12 at Batman movie screening looked like and said he was the

The reclusive drop-out PhD student behind the Dark Knight screening shooting spree said he was 'The Joker' after he carried out his horrific attack, it has been revealed.

James Holmes, 24, had painted his hair red to resemble Batman's arch nemesis before firing into the crowded theatre in Aurora, Colorado, according to New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

'It clearly looks like a deranged individual,' Kelly said of the shooter at a news conference, CBS reported. 'He had his hair painted red. He said he was "The Joker", obviously the enemy of Batman.'

A neighbour also reported that police, who were searching Holmes's apartment for explosives, asked him if he had seen 'a white guy with crazy hair, possibly dyed unnatural colors', the Denver Post said.

It has also emerged that Holmes, who is accused of killing 12 and injuring as many as 59 in the shooting, had been studying at the University of Colorado's medical campus until June this year.

But neighbours at university housing in Denver described Holmes as a recluse who kept himself to himself. One student said: 'No one knew him. No one.'

Holmes - who had been working towards his PhD for a year before dropping out - had one song blaring from his stereo in the hours before the massacre and left the music on repeat in his booby-trapped apartment as he departed to commit the massacre.

His shocked mother confirmed that he was behind the massacre, telling reporters: 'You've got the right man.'

have a feeling we’ll find out this guy has never had a girlfriend nor any kind of relationship with a woman.

No doubt. But not necessarily because he was gay. More likely because he was insane.

He was sane enough to plan the murder.

“Did the caller give his name ? What was Rosen’s reaction ?”

Cautious. It’ll come out if the caller can find pictures. The caller said he had been going thru news footage of the OWS demonstrations in Denver because he thought he recognized the guy. Said he had found pix he was “almost certain” were Holmes. Also said he had an interview he is pretty sure was Holmes. Said he would contact police before he sent pix to Rosen.

I don’t know what part of Obama’s speech you found appropriate, but I thought the mention of his daughters was a typical Obama response: Make this about Obama somehow. Very, very cheap.

MEEEEEMEEEEEEEEEMEEEEEEEEEMEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I just think that it isn’t rational to kill anyone, so by that logic I suppose you could say all murderers are insane, then.

The guy still needs a bullet to the brain.

Were there any shootings at the premiere of Pee Wee's Big Adventure? Thank you ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I rest my case.

Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” was featured in a Batman comic book with a similar storyline.

In my case, it’s more likely repeated listening would make me suicidal than homicidal.

I am thinking schizophrenia. It takes a special kind of crazy to kill a bunch of strangers for no reason and schizophrenia fits the bill as far as age and symptoms.

I agree he should be executed. He may be crazy but he is still guilty.

One student said: 'No one knew him. No one.'

Many from Columbia and Harvard have said the same about Mr. Transparency.

Hasn’t the Joker’s hair been green since he was introduced?

IIRC, the only one with red hair is Poison Ivy. Maybe we'll find out he has ladies undies in his drawers.

The entire speech was stupid. He was merely uttering words that were thrown out there. There was nothing behind them. Just words and a bunch of those were I. Yes, the daughters was a low point but the audience cheering and clapping was disgusting.

What I’m hearing from liberals this morning is, “Where were all those CCW holders who were going to save us from killings like this?”

The theater has a "no gun" policy. Law abiding citizens were disarmed. Evil thugs don't care about laws and order.

Why would the NYC Commissioner be holding a news conference on a Colorado shooting ?

Mike Rosen was very interested but said he would need to see the video. He said he was going to wait for confirmation. I didn’t listen to the whole exchange but Mike asked the man to get back to him as soon as possible and the guy said he would. Mike is one of the most rational talk show hosts out there. He is a lot like Mark Levin but not quite as excitable as Levin. He does get a little excercized at times with liberals. I have never heard one beat him in a debate. I think he is one of the best out there. He does not suffer fools or irrational people well, even on the conservative side. He will not let liberals get away with their typical debating tactics. His show is podcast for free and can be downloaded at 850KOA.com

This morning I was listening to Australian radio and that quote ran. I couldn't believe it. It's so self-involved.

It's as crude as him saying if I had a son he'd look like Trayvon Martin!

I can’t help but wonder if the shooter called his mother just before the shooting. There are reports that a man talking on a cell phone opened the fire exit and propped it open and that the shooter then came in shortly thereafter.

The shooter’s car was parked a short distance from that exit. If the man with the cell phone and the shooter are one and the same, i.e., he went out the door to get dressed up and get his guns and then returned, who was on the other end of that call?
