How was this shooting possible?
Denver has some of the strictist gun laws in the state.
I’m quite sure it’s illegal to carry a gun into a theater in Denver.
Perhaps we should make a new law that states that even criminals have to obey existing gun laws?
I hope I’m never in a situation like this or Luby’s but I always question why nobody attacked this guy. I’d like to think that if I was sitting within a few feet of the exit and a guy comes in and throws a tear gas grenade over my head I’d jump him. However, considering this guy looked like a SWAT team member, I probably would have sat there and let him shoot me.
And that is one of the major problems we have in this country. We’ve allowed our police to become jack booted Nazis and we cower in their presence. When a person can come through the exit door of a crowded theater dressed in assault gear we’ve been conditioned to believe the guy is a cop. Cops shouldn’t be dressed like Nazis.
Colorado FRs, does your state law prohibit firearms in theaters or stadiums? If not, did that city? Or did that theater have a “no guns” sign?
If one has CCW permit, I guess one has to decide whether or not carrying in a prohibited area is safer than a possible violation fine.
