Oops! I almost forgot to post the Salsa for tonight because LUV W was picking on me.
Mostly old Cuban music tonight with a lot of "The Buena Vista Social Club".
A little background on "Buena Vista Social Club":
There was/is a club in Cuba named, "The Buena Vista Social Club". Hence the name. The building was/is still standing but was vacant, rundown, dilapidated and hadn't been painted in years. That's where the band practiced, played and cut their first album. The American guitar player, Ry Cooder, visited Cuba looking for all of the old Cuban musicians who had performed but then disappeared in the 50s after Castro took power. Ry Cooder found many of them and formed the group. None of them had played any instruments or sung since Castro had seized power. When they became world-famous/popular the first thing that Castro did was to fire Ry Cooder and send him back to the states. Castro kept a few of the old-timers but replaced many of the band members with young, hardline communists. As they travelled the world, there were always "guards" with the musicians to avoid, so said the "guards", harm from others. The truth of the matter was that the "guards" were there to ensure that none of the musicians defected.
The musicians never got a dime of the millions made by the group. They still had to reside in their one-room, economy apartments. ALL of the money went to Castro and his communist regime.
What a country Cuba is, huh?
Anyway, here is tonight's offering of the Salsa
La Saaaaaaaaalsa! The page will open in a new window.

FREEDOM ISNT FREE!
It Is Purchased With The Blood Of Patriots!
Freedom Isnt Free
By DDR Kelly Strong USCG (ret)
I watched the flag pass by one day, It fluttered in the breeze. A young Marine saluted it, And then he stood at ease. I looked at him in uniform So young, so tall, so proud, With hair cut square and eyes alert Hed stand out in any crowd.
Eternal Father, Strong to Save (Click)
I thought how many men like him Had fallen through the years. How many died on foreign soil How many mothers tears? How many pilots planes shot down? How many died at sea How many foxholes were soldiers graves? No, freedom isnt free.
Taps (Click)
I heard the sound of Taps one night, When everything was still, I listened to the bugler play And felt a sudden chill. I wondered just how many times That Taps had meant Amen, When a flag had covered a coffin. Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children, Of the mothers and the wives, Of fathers, sons and husbands With interrupted lives, I thought about a graveyard At the bottom of the sea Of unmarked graves in Arlington, No, freedom isnt free.
God Of Our Fathers (Click)

Outstanding, Luv! One of his best, IMHO! Another great memory of my long-ago youth! It's hard to believe that song was a big hit over fifty years ago! (1961)
