Guest: Ken Ivory, Attorney and State Representative for Utah
This week: We talk with Rep. Ken Ivory from Utah, about states rightsand individual rights. If youre a big believer in the Tenth Amendment, you wont want to miss this.
When it comes to States rights, Oregonwhere we broadcast fromis not exactly a bastion of Tenth Amendment principles. The feds want some of our land? Sure, just help yourself. This runs absolutely contrary to what the Founding Fathers intended. They never intended for the federal government to own large chunks of land, and the land it could own was limited to post offices, forts, and other such needs.
Land and resources equal power and the power was to remain with the people, not the government. Otherwise, we may just as well have a king, which its beginning to feel as if we do. But its much more than just land. The states were to be a check on the power of the federal government. How have we lost that?
Well, unlike Oregon, Utah is fighting for its landsand fighting for its states sovereignty as protected under the Constitution. We conservatives talk a lot about states rights but what exactly does that mean? And did your 8th Grade Civics class ever talk to you about a compound Republic? Find out about that and much more tomorrow, Saturday, 11 to noon, West Coast time on the I Spy Radio Show. Join us as we get a little more intelligence on Big Government.
Thanks... I’ll check this out.
Ken Ivory gave a presentation about Utah’s HB 148 at the NM Cattlegrowers meeting in June. Very interesting talk and I visited with him for some time regarding this. We have a representative and senator who will introduce this legislation in NM this next session. Enjoy! and let me know what you think.
Thanks for the info...will it be archived?
Yes, it will be archived. All of I SPY’s programs are archived.
I already know what I think...this program is one of the best we’ve done!!!! EVERYONE should have their families listen....they will LEARN so much.
The rights of our people hang upon our ability find means to defend them. Washington can find no respect for anything but their own power, maybe our State legislation can.
At the very least and in the very practical sense by protecting and advancing the power of the State’s they will by force of interstate competition enhance the domain & security of our individual rights. 50 choices instead of 1.
Yes, I agree....it’s going to be interesting to see what States go forward....I’m in Oregon....fat chance right now....we have a Governor who’s sucking off the fed teat big time!

You may be surprised what you can get your State to do to break off from the Federal herd when a Republican gets elected. Indeed it is worth noting that Oregon is already the first state to effectively nully the Federal cannabis laws, by legalizing medical pot. (They are Ignoring a Federal court edict.)
You and I probably don’t necessarily agree with the wisdom of that act of domestic State sovereignty but you can’t deny that in areas the state of Oregon has bravely asserted her rights and been followed by many other States.
The State of Utah in many respects is just following in Oregon’s footsteps not on matters of federal drug laws which Utah largely doesn’t care about, but in matters that are of great significant to her own people.
The People of Oregon need no more agree with the wisdom of Utah’s domestic desires than the people of Utah agrees with the wisdom of Oregon’s. The point is they can agree to disagree on domestic policy and reconcize that they are united against Washington’s encirclement into the domestic sphere because of that disagreement.
Washington D.C. aim’s to divide and conquer the people of our states in order to rule us all without our consent. We must instead forge together in understanding one anther.
