Syria’s Next Act (Obama DNI Clapper: WMD "unquestionably" moved from Iraq to Syria)
The Daily Beast ^ | July 19, 2012 | Eli Lake

Obama administration officials tell The Daily Beast that the CIA has sent officers to the region to assess Syria’s weapons program.

James Clapper, now the Director of National Intelligence and formerly the director of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, said in 2003 that he believed materials had been moved out of Iraq in the months before the war and cited satellite imagery.

Actually do a search of that year the war started on freerepublic....you will be amazed at all the threads that followed those WMDs leaving Iraq right before the war started in a very large Russian convoy. People sat here screaming they were leaving Iraq.

Go to Amazon and there are several books not to mention threads here listing all the tons of WMDs actually found in Iraq but absolutely refused to be reported on by the MSM not to mention that there was one actually used in a roadside bomb on our guys they just did not set the thing off correctly not realizing it needed to be set of in the air so the chemicals could mix.

BTW what do you think Israel tried blowing up about 2 years ago in Syria? When your only news source is the MSN all you are getting is propaganda.

Then Syria and Iran will become a blackened, fused glass, self-lighting parking lots for the next 2,500 years.

You might want to read post #16 and 21. I agree totally with 16 this is nothing more than democrats trying to take cover for their propaganda lies they spread during the Bush years to destroy him and now they could have those lies exposed in truly horrific ways as Syria crumbles if those WMDs fall into the wrong hands, leaving them culpable, a true historic villain.

“BTW what do you think Israel tried blowing up about 2 years ago in Syria?”

IIRC, the Norks were building a nuclear reactor clone of one of their own. It was likely funded by and partnered with the Iranians.

http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/the-story-of-operation-orchard-how-israel-destroyed-syria-s-al-kibar-nuclear-reactor-a-658663-2.html

“In late 2006, Israeli military intelligence decided to ask the British for their opinion. But almost at the same time as the delegation from Tel Aviv was arriving in London, a senior Syrian government official checked into a hotel in the exclusive London neighborhood of Kensington. He was under Mossad surveillance and turned out to be incredibly careless, leaving his computer in his hotel room when he went out. Israeli agents took the opportunity to install a so-called “Trojan horse” program, which can be used to secretly steal data, onto the Syrian’s laptop.

“The hard drive contained construction plans, letters and hundreds of photos. The photos, which were particularly revealing, showed the Al Kibar complex at various stages in its development. At the beginning — probably in 2002, although the material was undated — the construction site looked like a treehouse on stilts, complete with suspicious-looking pipes leading to a pumping station at the Euphrates. Later photos show concrete piers and roofs, which apparently had only one function: to modify the building so that it would look unsuspicious from above. In the end, the whole thing looked as if a shoebox had been placed over something in an attempt to conceal it. But photos from the interior revealed that what was going on at the site was in fact probably work on fissile material.

“One of the photos showed an Asian in blue tracksuit trousers, standing next to an Arab. The Mossad quickly identified the two men as Chon Chibu and Ibrahim Othman. Chon is one of the leading members of the North Korean nuclear program, and experts believe that he is the chief engineer behind the Yongbyon plutonium reactor. Othman is the director of the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission.”

“This is nothing more than another story designed to make us intervene in Syria.”

IMO, the story that Iraqi WMD were shipped to Syria doesn't make war with Syria any more likely because Syria has had tons of its own chem/bio MAD weapons for decades to offset the Israeli nukes. So Syrians having WMD is not new.

The big irony in the story is that one of the key US commanders in a position to know in 2003 said the WMD “unquestionably” went to Iraq and now that same guy is now the DNI in a Democrat administration after all of the lies Dems told about “Bush lied...”

Yes, the story was leaked to prepare the public for a probable US and/or Israeli preemptive intervention in Syria. I regard such a limited preemptive attack to be totally justified to keep the Syrian WMD from falling into the hands of Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, or (less likely at this point) Hamas.

the movement of Saddam WMD’s that Clapper talked about happened during the months before the invasion.

This is exactly what the Iraqi General Georges Sada wrote in his book SADDAM'S SECRETS

How he did it was that he took advantage of a natural disaster that happened in Syria. Under the disguise of humanitarian aid he had all the passenger seats from the Iraqi civilian airline taken out and converted the planes into transport planes in which the WMD's were then transported to Syria and then hidden, without anyone getting wise about it.

I used to tell liberals that when you want to hide something that you are not permitted to have is to move it to a place when no one would think to look. Needless to say, they were all in denial
