DeMint: Give Palin Major Speaking Role at Convention
NewsMax ^ | July 20, 2012 | By NewsMax Wires

Powerful conservative Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., thinks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin deserves a prime speaking position at the Republican convention.

"I'd love to see Sarah Palin have a big slot — as far as speaking — because there's no one still in America that excites the base of conservatives and even libertarians as she does,” he told Fox News Thursday.

“She can draw a crowd more than any other Republican, and I think has more influence in primaries than any other endorsement right now, so I think she'd be good."

The convention has been known to be the jumping off point for future candidates, and it was certainly Palin’s first and finest hour in ‘08, as the VP half of the ticket.

All hell has broken loose now, and the Party has made it clear they have no use for us, nor we for them. Even good DeMint strings us along, as nothing can hope to change without SOMEONE leading an opposition from the inside.

Not a soul has stepped forward to do that.

I would say Sarah’s speech at the RNC was the best EVER..

Zell Miller, Dem. Senator from Georgia who spoke at Bush's nominating convention. His speech was one of the best too.

Let her speak if she wants to, she has earned it. But realize this, it is the GOP’s sandbox to do with as they will.

e Chris Christie from New Jersey (the current reported keynote speaker).

Actually that is not true! It's a story about someone who is pushing for CC. Newt said that is not true and said, of course, Sarah will be invited to speak at the convention and NO ONE HAS RECEIVED ANY INVITES, as yet!

Sarah doesn't need a parking lot - months ago she already booked her set up in Tampa. So much for that!

None of it, because they will be in one big circle jerk party oblivious to the fate that awaits America if Ubama gets a second term.

They all think this is politics as usual, win some loose some, they fail to understand this is about Ideology and Liberty vs Statist tyranny.

The GOP is afraid to because Sarah Palin would upstage Romney.

I don’t understand why Palin fans would want her to empower Romney by speaking at the RINO-fest to beat all RINO-fests in Tampa.

The convention has been known to be the jumping off point for future candidates, and it was certainly proved to be Palin’s first and finest hour in ‘08, as the VP half of the ticket.

All hell has broken loose now, with the socialist nominee, by which the Party has plainly said, “kiss off”, as they prove they have no further use for conservatives, but as perhaps pack horses to get them through to the nomination and election.

Many conservatives will oblige their keepers. A few of us will not.

You are correct, no name. Sarah doesn't have to improve her credentials.

But she does have to improve her image with the general public. They think she's Tina Fey.

Aside from that minor correction, I stand by my post that Sarah would give a stirring nomination speech.

I stand corrected, thanks for the updated information! With that in mind, it would seem that the more diabolical schemers in the Romney campaign who would resist a speaking slot for Sarah at the convention, even when the idea is being pushed by Jim DeMint, might counter with an invitation for DeMint to speak, maybe even in the keynote slot?

According to a guest on FOX her venue is large and a five minute walk from the convention center...Now why would she need that for a speech?

Romney would never pick Palin as his VP. Never. A few months ago there was a FR thread about Willard squeezing his big donors for more money. The scare tactic he used was the possibility of “evangelicals and Sarah Palin” having a voice at the convention. He has nothing but contempt for such people.

Incidentally, I picked up “The Real Romney” at the library. According to some of his aides, Willard is so, quote, “patrician” that he’s uncomfortable even being in an elevator with regular people.

Based on your viewing TV news, I’m convinced you in fact saw the Tina Fey version of Palin when TV news aired it all over the place, but have simply forgotten about it.

It really was amazing to see how many people were confused between the Fey caricature and the real Palin, despite the fact that the two are polar opposites in terms of character and substance.

That is to say, Tina Fey’s character was silly and dumb while the real Palin is on the other end of the spectrum.

Anyway the mass confusion surrounding it is consistent with anyone’s inability to remember seeing news clips of it.
