CNN anchor Piers Morgan devoted a considerable portion of his Friday program to pushing for more gun control, breaking with those who have advised delaying such talk until after a period of mourning for shooting victims in Aurora, Colorado.
Morgan not only began Piers Morgan Tonight with a "Piers' Special Commentary" calling for more gun laws, but, later in the program, he included three guests who argued in favor of more gun control, with only one to argue against, with whom the CNN host ended up becoming agitated as Denver University Professor David Kopel scolded Morgan for not waiting longer before launching into a divisive political debate.
Shortly after beginning the show, Morgan played a clip of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg advising the presidential candidates to talk about the gun control issue, and then began his commentary:
I agree with Mayor Bloomberg. I fully respect the Second Amendment and every American's desire to defend themselves in their homes. But I simply don't believe the Framers of the Constitution would have ever envisioned a disturbed young man utilizing his right to bear arms by legally buying four guns including an assault weapon capable of firing hundreds of rounds a minute, specifically to murder fellow Americans.
There are now almost as many guns in America as there are people, and this can only surely lead to more senseless deaths. Something has to be done, and that debate will start tonight...

The liberal gun grabbers must have gotten the memo. They are now flooding Twitter with their anti-gun rants blaming the NRA, Bush and Republicans for the Batman shooting. Sickening! We need to supply them with facts.

Having Brits telling us how to deal with our security is just like the Houston Chronicle (standard left-wing rag) telling Republicans who to vote for their primary - it’s really NONE OF THEIR (or his) DAMN BUSINESS.

Unfortunately we will never know the truth about this persons motives. By his actions we can see he is not a law abiding citizen. Also, as stated in the article that he purchased and used an assault weapon is false. An AR-15 cannot be an assault weapon, it is a semi-auto rifle, nothing more, nothing less.
This Piers Morgan needs to get out of the talking head business. Gun control = a captive population with no way to defend themselves. First thing ...a shooting...more gun control...yes someone with a legal gun should have double tapped the shooter. Personally, I think the patsy was setup long before the shooting took place. Since the shooter was unidentifiable ( mask), we really don’t know who actually did the shooting. I find it odd that so many people we hit, even the best trained in the world are wondering the same thing.

One of the reasons I won’t watch TV is because of the ubiquitous Brit treating Americans like we are morons and interfering in our internal affairs.

I’ve never seen his show. There are probably more FReepers seeing this thread than there are viewers for his show. If nobody reported on what he said, he would never be heard from again. Trees falling in the forest, that kind of thing.
What’s up with hiring foreigners to read the news? Most of the time, I can’t understand their accented speech.
If you look at Twitter you would almost conclude they were ready to jump on this guncontrol issue months before the shooting took place.
