Questions To Ask Democrats As They Abandon Barack
Townhall.com ^ | July 22, 2012 | Austin Hill

Democrats are abandoning Barack Obama’s ship.

Last week Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi instructed Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives to not attend this September’s Democratic National Convention. Instead, Ms. Pelosi insisted, their time would be better spent campaigning at home, rather than partying in Charlotte, N.C.

Ms. Pelosi’s announcement falls in line with the AFL-CIO, which announced the previous week that it won’t be spending money to bankroll the convention. And Pelosi and her Big Labor friends are in lockstep with Democrat U.S. Senators Jon Tester of Montana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia – all of whom have chosen to avoid Barack Obama’s nomination for a second term.

After three and a half years of Barack Obama radicalizing their party, it now appears that some very powerful Democrats have had a startling realization: the Obama agenda is both dysfunctional and destructive, and has become politically lethal – Americans see that it bares little resemblance to America’s time-honored history and heritage, and they have begun to reject it outright.

Democrat candidates at all levels of government will go about campaigning over these next few months, making promises based upon their party platform without mentioning President Obama’s name. But as they talk about the following agenda items – all of which appear in the “issues” section of Democrats.Org, the national party’s web home – consider asking the candidates the accompanying questions below.

Let’s start with the issue of “energy independence.” Democrats tell us that “President Obama knows we can’t just drill our way to lower gas prices,” and that their party is focused on “developing all of America’s natural resources...” The President himself has said that he is committed to an “all of the above” approach to energy policy, implying that he’s okay with petroleum-based energy, along with the alternative energy development that he’s promoted.

This sounds great- but consider asking Democrats this question: “If President Obama is committed to an ‘all of the above’ strategy, why did he reject the Keystone XL pipeline project that would have produced employment opportunities from the Canadian border all the way to Texas?” In reality, an “all of the above” approach to energy policy means “anything except Big Oil” within the Obama worldview – but Democrats would prefer to ignore this.

Your Democrat candidate may prefer, instead, to tell you about their party’s agenda for “green energy.” On this point, you may wish to ask “how do you feel about CBS News reporting that the Obama Administration has lost $6.5 billion of our money already on what they described as ‘risky green energy ventures?’ Did CBS lie to us?”

You may also hear from your Democrat candidate that the party is fighting for “civil rights” on behalf of LGBT couples –which is to say that they’re working for legal sanctioning of same-sex marriage. Mention to them that Democrats in the California legislature are now working on a bill to expand parental rights to more than two parents per child. Under the California plan, any individual child could have three or perhaps more, legally identified mommies and daddies. Then ask the Democrat, “Why would you limit the structuring of marriages and families to only two adults? Given how President Obama’s position on this issue has evolved, and given the highly evolved position among California Democrats, aren’t you being a bit exclusionary and narrow-minded, trying to limit a marriage or a family to only two adults?”

Concerns about the economy are top of mind for us all, which puts Democrats in an awkward situation. Still, your Democrat candidate will likely remind you that President Obama inherited a bad economy and is now working to “creating jobs.” To this you may wish to simply ask “how is a job created?” Then listen carefully to the response. It will likely be highly amusing.

There are so many other questions to ask of your local Democrat candidate, regardless of the issues the candidate raises. “Why does the so-called ‘healthcare reform law’ expand the force and power of the I.R.S.?” “Why are illegal aliens exempt from the Obamacare tax?” “Is it purely coincidental that the executives of the ‘green energy’ companies that were recipients of President Obama’s grants and loans were also donors to his previous presidential campaign?” “Why has President Obama abandoned the work requirements imposed on welfare recipients by President Bill Clinton?” “Why is 80% of the Department of Agriculture’s budget spent on food stamps, while less than 20% of it is devoted to the farming industry?” “Why is the Obama Administration ‘collaborating’ with the government of Mexico to give American food stamps to illegal aliens?” Your local Democrat will probably not want to hear these questions, and may have to admit that they disagree with parts of the President’s agenda.

You might even hear your local Democrat say that they’re abandoning the President’s agenda for America altogether – just like so many of them have abandoned the President’s convention in September.

If Tester, McCaskill et al are reelected in November, they will vote for Harry Reid as majority leader and the progressive agenda will churn on, regardless of their individual votes. Their problem is that Zero is unpopular in their states.

That's why the House has to impeach AG Holder NOW -- to force a Senate trial in the fall, and force the 'Rats to line up behind Holder, Obama, and the whole Fast & Furious scandal, force them to defend all that and all their Stalinist Administration, going into the elections.

Show the People that the Dems are a New Communist Party, behaving just the way that Leonid Brezhnev's Communists did during the Prague Spring. Show the People the New Stalinists marching in lockstep and ignoring solid evidence of high crimes -- and they'll throw the whole damn bunch out on their ass, and give the GOP congressional supermajorities.

Although I find your moniker “Nancy Lugosi” brilliantly descriptive, it is nonetheless insulting to the memory of a great actor.

The Republican House will never impeach any Democrat for crimes. Holder could travel to Mexico with a truck load of arms and personally transfer them to the head of a drug cartel on CNN and the John Boehner House would not impeach. The Republcian House learned its lesson during the Clinton impeachment. Why charge the criminal if you know the jury will not convict? Remember Trent Lott, John McCain, and the other Republican Senators snubbing the House during the Clinton impeachment trial. Boehner knows it is a waste of time and political capital to even think about impeachment with a Democrat controlled Senate and McConnell as the minority leader.

The Republican leadership knows a Holder impeachment would create an anti Republican media firestorm. Boehner, McConnell and the other Republican leaders want no part of the fallout from an impeachment of Holder, no matter what his crimes. Romney doesn’t want the “racist” impeachment of Holder as the main story in the news. He has to get the American people focused on the miserable economy.

The next impeachment will be of a Republican President, conservative federal judge, or Republican cabinet member. A Democrat House will impeach and a Democrat Senate will convict. It will be a show trial to reinforce the media created perception Republicans are wealthy criminals. Likely the target will be a prominent conservative who will have inadvertently broken one of the hundreds of thousands of federal laws on the books which are rarely enforced.

The funny thing is that in the Northwest, the government has been forcing utilities to shut down multiple power generating dams in the name of Salmon. They refuse to renew the permits they need to continue operating. Never mind that some of them were over a hundred years old. This has been declared a victory for the environment by the local media.

Because the object here isn't to convict Holder -- it's to convict the jury, the Senate Democrats.

They won't convict -- but the People will.

Then we can impeach, and convict, the Pustule in Chief.

The great lakes czar (Cameron Davis) is a radical environmentalist who also heads the Alliance for the great lakes. Their primary goal is to remove all the dams (There are nearly 3000 in Michigan alone) and eventually set up buffer zones around all the water where people can’t live.

Question to dems: You voted for Obama last time, right? OK, you’ve proven you’re not a racist. This time, prove that you’re not a fool!

Carrying on a show trial for political reasons demonstrates a lack of respect for the Constitution. Impeachment is a serious matter and should be about removing a corrupt official for criminal behavior. The founders made impeachment and conviction a difficult process due to the seriousness of removal and to prevent political show trials. I greatly respect the sacrifices of our founders and the greatness of the Constitution. It would be a dishonor for conservatives to conduct an impeachment of a cabinet officer for the purpose of embarrassing the Senate Democrats.

If Holder has committed crimes while conducting the office of Attorney General he should be impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate. If he has not committed crimes, there should be no impeachment. If he has committed crimes and Congress is unwilling to impeach and convict, the Constitution is dead. Perhaps this is the real state of affairs.

Boehner as President would be as big a disaster as Mittens.

Come on, Sarah -- stampede the GOP Convention!

Of course it is, and of course it should! And why do you think you can't go after a two-fer?

Get your head out of your ass. The Republic is on the line. These people will murder Americans in the millions for their ideology. Snap to!

Your teeth must be jangling with cognitive dissonance. Not forty minutes ago you posted to me that

So it's a dishonor for conservatives, but a pat hand, a laydown, a lead-pipe cinch for the Democrats?

Are you the kind of guy who, when someone mugs him in an alley, tells the fleeing gunman, "Stop! Come back! I have some more in my shoe!"?

That's what your position sounds like -- Noble suffering for noblesse oblige, politics ain't beanbag but we Republicans don't play like that, and all that RiNO "People Like Us" stuff.

Snap out of it. The country's going to hell. Pick up your musket and go to the town meeting. It's time to defend the Republic against its would-be destroyers.

I'm with you, but Nancy Karloff, Nancy Chaney, Nancy Price, Nancy Cushing and Nancy Lee don't have the same ring.

Of course, there was that lesser known actor, Skelton Knaggs...hmmm, Nancy Knaggs. That might work!

People are missing the point on this one. Pelosi knows that if you control the states, you control Congress. Dems want to keep the Senate and take back the House. They can’t do that without control of the states.

I agree with you. Pelosi, in her dream world, is confident that Obama will win the election. She will never admit anything that even resembles concern. Her focus is on the Dems re-gaining control of Congress so they can advance Obama's agenda.

Just the same, the call for abstaining from attending also speaks to her real fear of another landslide victory for the Republican/TEA Party candidates. And that is a big enough concern for her to suggest they stay in their home areas and campaign. Looks like the Dems are between a rock and a hard place.

Note...watch the Dems also point out that they are being very thrifty (during our hard economic times) with their money and not spending it on convention costs...and I am sure they will make that point when the Republicans hold their convention which will probably be very well attended.

Hey, I think Obummer is completely sincere about wanting to fix the economy — in the same way people say they’re going to FIX their dogs!

My personal opinion is Holder should be impeached and convicted for fast and furious as well as 10th Amendment violations pertaining to voter fraud. Certainly his, and Napolitano’s refusal to enforce immigration laws are also impeachable offenses. I just don’t believe the Republican establishment has any intention of holding either Holder or Obama accountable just as they wimped out on convicting Clinton. My head is ready to go.

Show me Boehner, McConnell and friends are ready and willing to enforce the Constitution. All I can see is them looking the other way. Do you really expect President Romney to investigate and prosecute the crimes committed by the current administration if he is elected? It will never happen, even though it should. As long as we conservative continue to believe the Republican party will represent our interests, we will continue to be disappointed.

“Snap out of it. The country’s going to hell. Pick up your musket and go to the town meeting. It’s time to defend the Republic against its would-be destroyers.”

I was simply stating the obvious. The Republicans have no stomach for impeachment and conviction. They went part way with Clinton and then bailed in the Senate. They couldn’t even muster the courage to investigate and charge Clinton with selling state secrets to the Chicoms for campaign contributions. As long as Democrat presidents have nothing to fear they will continue to walk all over the Constitution.

I was also pointing out what you are stating. The Democrats will do anything. They don’t care about the Constitution and will twist it to server their ends. I have no doubt as soon as they can get the goods on a prominent Republican politician, while controlling both houses of Congress, they will impeach and convict. They know the Republicans won’t fight back. History shows Republicans will ultimately back down when challenged and the fight gets tough.

If the Republican House had leadership and courage it would have already impeached Holder and Napolitano, if not Obama himself. All they’ve done is vote to hold Holder in contempt. He laughed in their faces. Now what are they going to do — nothing. Don’t be angry with me, get angry at Boehner, he controls the House agenda.

I also made the point is Republicans should impeach for real offenses, not impeach to make a political statement. There are real impeachable offenses in play today. So get on with it. What Republican is going to call for impeachment and start the process? Show me the leadership and I will follow. I’ve conveyed my point of view to my Republican representative, have you? Mine is doing nothing, what about yours?

Finally, with respect to respecting the meaning of the Constitution I’m serious. If conservatives win are your saying we, just like the Dems, should rule with no rules? If so why are we any better?

Until a few days ago -- our much-delayed reapportionment lawsuits -- my "representative" in Congress was the infamous Sheila Jackson Lee. Now I don't know who we have -- we couldn't be lucky enough that it's Ted Poe. But I've been told it's a Republican. Mind you, this stuff was only settled about May 29.

NO, I am NOT advocating breaking down the Constitution -- but the Constitution affords the GOP majority in the House and the coming majority in the Congress to get some real things done that even Obama cannot ignore, including his imprisonment. So let's get to it.
